Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who does Lord Vetinari keep prisoner in a secret room next to his office?

Answer: Leonard of Quirm

He is kept prisoner because, unknowingly, he is the most dangerous man on the Discworld. His inventions could be destructive. He is also a genius and cleverer even than Vetinari himself.
2. What is the name of the band in "Soul Music"?

Answer: The Band With Rocks In

This book tells the story of Rock And Roll in Discworld terms. Imp y Celyn is basically Buddy Holly. The band buy their instruments in a magic shop and they get in to trouble with the Musicians Guild.
3. Who is Susan Sto-Helit's grandfather?

Answer: Death

I think Death personified in the Discworld is possibly the best character Pratchett has created. His bleak outlook and frequent mid-death crises are extremely funny.
4. What is Written on Rincewind's hat?

Answer: Wizzard

He is not a very good wizard. He cannot even spell wizard. Rincewind is the ultimate anti-hero. He always solves the problem but usually by running away from it.
5. Which of these animals is most associated with Brutha?

Answer: Tortoise

Brutha features in the book "Small Gods" which is a good introduction to Pratchett. Brutha is the "chosen one" but he has a hard time proving it to everyone else. The tortoise is in fact the great God Om.
6. What rank was Captain Vimes promoted to?

Answer: Commander

He was not pleased about this. He does not believe in status. Vimes is a very effective policeman and does his best not to be speciesist by employing dwarves, trolls and werewolves.
7. Who is the "leader they do not have" of the Lancre witches?

Answer: Granny Weatherwax

Granny is another brilliant character. She is first featured in "Equal Rites". Granny is perhaps the wisest person on the Discworld. She despairs of the various bad habits of Nanny Ogg.
8. Which witch has a split personality?

Answer: Agnes Nitt

"Carpe Jugulum" and "Wyrd Sisters" also feature the witches. The name of Agnes's other self is Perdita. She is more confident and less polite.
9. In "The Science Of The Discworld" who is sent into Roundworld first?

Answer: Rincewind

This book is good for learning about quantum physics. Rincewind is sent to Roundworld, against his will, at the command of Ridcully. I like this book as it discusses theories of creation whilst also telling a good story.
10. Who was the original owner of the Luggage in "The Colour Of Magic"?

Answer: Twoflower

The Luggage is made of Sapient Pearwood which means it has a mind of its own. It has many legs and so it can follow its owner around. Rincewind has been its main owner.
