Corlys Velaryon served in the Kingsguard of Aegon I, the Conqueror. When it became apparent that Aegon was in dire need of bodyguards, he and his sister, Visenya, created the Kingsguard as an elite group of guards, basing their oaths on the ones of the Night's Watch.
Corlys Velaryon's namesake was dubbed the "Sea Snake" and played a part in the civil was known as Dance of the Dragons.

Answer: Lucamore Strong

Lucamore Strong broke a part of the Kingsguard vow, namely the part about them not taking wives and fathering children. As punishment, King Jaehaerys I sent him to the Wall and, after his death, the knight was mocked as "Lucamore the Lusty".

Criston Cole was born to a steward of Lord Dondarrion of Blackhaven. In a tourney at Maidenpool that celebrated Viserys I's ascension to the Iron Throne, Cole won great fame for knocking the famed sword Dark Sister from Prince Daemon's hands. Viserys' daughter, Princess Rhaenyra, became infatuated with Cole, but he spurned her advances, remaining true to his vows and later became the Princess' worst enemy. When King Viserys died, Criston cronwed his son, King Aegon II, with the crown of the Conqueror and later was appointed as Hand of the King, before perishing during the Dance of the Dragons.

The defection of Steffon Darklyn happened in the first stages of the civil war known as Dance of the Dragons. Darklyn stole the crown of King Viserys I and brought it to Dragonstone. As a reward, Princess Rhaenyra named him Commander of the Queensguard. Later, Darklyn attempted to tame the dragon Seasmoke, but failed miserably.

Willis Fell was one of the supporters of King Aegon II in the Dance of the Dragons.
When Princess Rhaenyra and her dragons attacked the capital, the Master of Whisperers, Larys Strong, arranged for the rescue of the royal family and instructed Willis to transport the king's daughter, Jaehaera, to Storm's End, while another Kingsguard, Rickard Thorne, was told to transport his son, Maelor, to Oldtown. Willis' quest succeeded, while Rickard's tragically came to end at Bitterbridge.

Willem Wylde was chosen by King Daeron II to fulfil a place in the Kingsguard, the same position King Aegon IV had promised to the Red Keep's master-at-arms, Ser Quentyn Ball, known as "Fireball". Quentyn was enraged and that was the reason he joined Daemon Blackfyre, when he attempted to usurp the throne.
Later, Willem Wylde fought in the Trial of the Seven that happened in Ashford Meadow in 209 AC, at the side of the mad prince Aerion Brightflame and against Ser Duncan the Tall. Wylde was carried off the field, unconscious.

Gwayne Corbray wielded a Valyrian steel sword named Lady Forlorn, the ancestral blade of his House.
Despite the fact that Gwayne lost the battle against Daemon Blackfyre, the pretender ordered one of his followers to bring the Kingsguard knight to the rear and have his wounds tended to. According to the Blackfyre loyalist Eustace Osgrey, the whole duel and display of mercy towards Gwayne stole precious time from Daemon, allowing Brynden Rivers and his archers to turn the tide of the battle.

Answer: Duncan the Tall

Ser Duncan the Tall was originally a hedge knight, after squiring for Arlan of Pennytree. How Prince Aegon became Duncan's squire is told in the short story "The Hedge Knight". One of Ser Duncan's most famous accomplishments was the slaying of the pretender Daemon III Blackfyre at the Battle of Wendwater Bridge. Ser Duncan perished at the tragedy of Summerhall alongside his king, in a futle attempt to hatch dragon eggs using the treacherous substance known as wildfire.

Answer: Jaime Lannister

Jaime Lannister was the youngest kinght to be appointed in the Kingsguard at his time. However, his appointment enraged his father, because that meant that the dwarf Tyrion Lannister would inherit Casterly Rock. At the end of Robert's Rebellion, Jaime slew the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen, in order to prevent the destruction of King's Landing and the death of thousands of innocent people. Despite his noble motive, he became widely known as "Kingslayer" and everything he said was cast in the worst possible light.
