Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Danielle: "A bird may love a fish, signore, but where will they live?" Leonardo da Vinci: "Then I shall have to make you wings." Which 1998 Cinderella story is this inspiring quote from?

Answer: Ever After

This exchange of dialogue appears when Da Vinci acknowledges that Danielle loves the prince. He tries to tell her that love will conquer all problems and at the moment, her biggest problem is not being of social status suitable to marry the prince. The audience is first introduced to Leonardo da Vinci when his belongings are stolen by a gypsy, including a container in the shape of a tube. Claiming it to be a matter of life or death, the artist persuades Prince Henry to retrieve it for him. We later see that this tube holds his legendary masterpiece, the Mona Lisa.

However, in real life, it was painted on wooden panel, making it impossible to roll up into a tube.
2. Lindsey: "If you love me enough to sell your tickets, I love you enough not to let you." To which 2005 film does this quote belong?

Answer: Fever Pitch

This film follows a couple whose relationship is jeopardized by the man's unusual obsession with the Boston Red Sox. Lindsey says this to Ben at the end of the movie, when the two realize that their love is stronger than any game. Most of the filming for this movie was done during the actual season that the Red Sox won the World Series.

As I'm sure many fans of this movie know, some of the game scenes are actual footage, but did you know there actually was an alternate ending prepared for the movie, in case the Red Sox lost?
3. Mary: "It's a good thing I didn't marry him. But most of the time I think...I just wasn't enough." Steve: "No, no, no, you're wrong. And another thing. This Wendy...she's nothing but a poor man's Mary."

Answer: The Wedding Planner

This film follows a wedding planner who finds herself in love with the groom! This conversation takes place between a drunk Mary and Steve after they run into her ex-fiancé and the woman he cheated on her with. You may not know that after Mary wakes up in a hospital, she meets Dr. Steve in his office, where he shows her a picture of his "sister", the wild-child.

This picture is actually of Matthew McConaughey himself, dressed in drag.
4. Novalee: "I lied because I thought you deserved something better." Forney: "Something better than you? Novalee, there isn't anything better than you." What's the name of the touching 2000 film that this quote comes from?

Answer: Where the Heart Is

This film is about a young woman who is pregnant and abandoned at a Wal-Mart in Oklahoma. The story unfolds as the audience meets the people who come into her life and make this new place her home. This dialogue is exchanged between Novalee and Forney when she finally realizes she deserves him.

This is my ultimate favorite movie! The acting is superb and the storyline is even better. If you haven't already, I suggest you read the book by Billie Letts, which is even better than the movie! Because this was filmed around the release of Natalie Portman's 'Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace' (1999), various pictures of her as Queen Amidala had to be taken down in the Wal-Mart.
5. Bridget: "You are angry." Mark: "No, I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed." Bridget: "Disappointed? Oh, God, that's worse than angry." Mark: "I'm just disappointed I can't take you home this instant." This quote is from 'Bridget Jones's Diary,' filmed in 2001.

Answer: False

This particular quote comes from the sequel to 'Bridget Jones's Diary', called 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason', which was filmed in 2004. Unlike a lot of sequels, I found this one to be even better than the first! It takes off where the first movie ended, exploring Bridget's new relationship with the handsome Mark Darcy.

This short dialogue takes place after Bridget, assuming Mark is cheating on her, storms into one of his work meetings. Those who read the second book about loveable Bridget know that Daniel Cleaver initially played a very small role this time around, which was inflated for the movie version, because the character was so popular.
6. Lucy: "Can I have one last first kiss?" In which 2004 film can this line be heard?

Answer: 50 First Dates

This great date movie was originally titled, '50 First Kisses'. It is about a young woman who has a short-term memory problem and has to keep falling in love with her boyfriend every day. She says this to Henry when she decides to call off their relationship and let him get on with his life.

The condition that Lucy is diagnosed with, "Goldfield Syndrome", is fictional. There are conditions that deal with short-term amnesia, but none of them are triggered by sleep. Ironically, sleeping is one of the body's most effective ways of retaining information.

It's not a lie that students retain more information when they study prior to the day of an exam!
7. Noah: "Summer romances begin for all kinds of reasons, but when all is said and done, they have one thing in common. They're shooting stars, a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, fleeting glimpse of eternity, and in a flash they're gone." From which movie does this quote come?

Answer: The Notebook (2004)

I'll admit it, there has never been a movie that made me go through as many tissues as this one did! It explores the life of a long-time romance. This is said in the narration of the film, when the old Noah is commenting on his past life. Rachel McAdams beat out many other young women for the role of young Allie, including the pop diva, Britney Spears herself.
8. Toula: "Why?... Why do you love me?" Ian: "Because I came alive when I met you." This sweet quote is from which romantic comedy?

Answer: My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

This movie is about a shy woman who breaks out of her shell and falls in love. This wouldn't be a problem, except that her family is Greek and her new love isn't! Toula asks him this question, and the response is too good to be true. At the time of its debut, this film surprised everyone by becoming the highest-grossing independent film in history, until Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ' topped it. Ironically, it never hit number one at the box office. I'm not a big fan of many independent films, but this one topped my list after one viewing!
9. Emma: "Sometimes things don't work out, they take their place in your heart and make you a little stronger the next time." The Emma who said this is from which film?

Answer: Alex and Emma (2003)

This movie is about a writer who falls for a stenographer while creating his next novel. Emma says this after she and Alex hit a brick wall in their relationship. This was a really quirky, but sweet movie that didn't seem to get much attention. Kate Hudson plays a total of five different characters throughout the film, while Luke Wilson plays two.
10. William: "I love ye, always have." In which powerful film can this quote be heard?

Answer: Braveheart (1995)

This film is about the legendary William Wallace and how he unites the Scottish people to overthrow the English. After finally working up enough courage, he says this to his love interest before all the fighting begins. I don't know if it was just the mood of the movie or Mel Gibson with an accent that did it for me, but this quote is one of my favorites from a non-romantic comedy. An interesting piece of trivia about this movie was that several battle scenes had to be reshot because some of the actors were caught wearing sunglasses and watches.
