Adam ends up waking up in the bathtub and when he gets out, the whole story begins. He and Lawrence are trapped in a dingy bathroom with chains around their ankles.

Within the case (opened by the key in Lawrence's envelope) they find a cell phone for incoming calls, two cigarettes, and a note. On the note, Jigsaw implies that Lawrence doesn't need a gun to kill Adam, but he could poison one of the cigarettes with the poison on the ground in the bathroom.

Lawrence decides that he needs to save his family, so he uses the saw for what it's meant for by cutting off his foot. It not known whether or not Lawrence lives at the end of the movie.

After cutting off his foot, Lawrence shoots Adam with the bullet he received in his envelope and the gun in the dead body's hand. Zep enters the room and says that he didn't make the deadline, but Adam wakes up and kills Zep.

It turns out that the Jigsaw Killer had chosen Zep as another victim because Adam finds a tape on Zep's body. The real killer was in the room the whole time, because he was the dead body. In the end, the dead body (who wasn't dead after all) rises from the ground and tells Adam that the key to his lock is in the bathtub, but Adam knows that the key went down the drain.

He shuts the door and leaves Adam in the dark.
