Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Seth have to do to himself for his test?

Answer: Crush his hands

Seth Baxter, who we later find out is the boyfriend and murderer of Hoffman's sister, follows the instructions on the tape recording to "...destroy the things he has used to kill...", i.e. his hands. He places them in the allotted slots, presses the buttons and crushes them.

However, this does not stop the bladed pendulum swinging above him, which subsequently cuts him in half. We find out later that it was in fact Hoffman who created this trap, making it look like a Jigsaw trap. Hoffman makes the trap unwinnable, as he wants to seek revenge for his sister's death, and kill Seth, not just test him.
2. When Strahm wakes up with his head in the clear perspex box, what happens to this box, in an attempt to kill him?

Answer: It fills with water.

As the box begins to fill with water Strahm desperately tries to look for a way out. He sees his gun and mobile phone on a table well out of reach. He finds a ballpoint pen in his pocket, and drives it into his throat, carrying out a tracheotomy on himself! This allows him to breathe through this hole until he is rescued.

He later deduces that Hoffman set this up. No-one was meant to survive, except Hoffman and Corbett, Jeff and Lynne's daughter, who Hoffman "saves", making him look the hero rather than the killer he really is.
3. At the service held in memory of the people who have died chasing Jigsaw, whose photograph do we NOT see?

Answer: All of these people are represented

Detective Tapp, who we see obsessing over the Jigsaw case in "Saw", survives having his throat cut by Jigsaw, but meets his death after being shot by Zep. We can only assume that, because Detective Tapp was dismissed from the force, his photo is not at the service, as all the others have died while still serving in the force.
4. What is written on the note that Hoffman finds in his office?

Answer: "I know who you are"

At this point in time, it is still unknown who has written and left this note for Hoffman. We can only assume it is one of a number of people, including Amanda or even Jigsaw himself.
5. Who does NOT manage to survive the Neck Tie trap, when they fail to reach the key to their lock?

Answer: Ashley

Ashley is the blonde girl on the far right hand side of the trap. Charles reveals that he knows who she is, and tells the other members she used to be a firefighter, but had been dismissed from the service. It is not revealed, at this point, why she actually left the service, but it comes to light later on in the game.

This sets the group off trying to work out why they have all been chosen.
6. What is the reason Mallick was being tested?

Answer: For starting a fire

His crime is revealed when Luba, Brit and Mallick end up arguing before one of the tests. He was responsible for starting a fire at the block of flats, as part of an insurance scam. He tells the girls that he was told the flats were empty, and he was paid by someone, who gave him a large amount of heroin to light the fire.

It turns out that all five of the people in this game played some part in the deaths of eight people, who were apparently still living in the flats at the time of the fire. Mallick gets very upset, and says he did not mean to kill or hurt anyone.
7. What object does Hoffman steal from the police evidence store, to try to frame Strahm for the murders?

Answer: A mobile phone

Hoffman steals Strahm's mobile phone, which is being held in the evidence store, after Strahm escapes the Head Trap. Hoffman takes this phone and uses it to call Agent Ericson, which in turn causes Ericson to place a tracker on the phone, to track Strahm's movements. Hoffman then plants the phone at the house where the main game is taking place. Near the end of the film, the phone is found at the house, strengthening the idea that Strahm is the Jigsaw accomplice in the heads of the police officers. We, however, know this is not the case, and that Hoffman is the real accomplice.
8. Which two people reach the final test?

Answer: Mallick and Brit

After Brit and Mallick use Luba's body to connect the circuit in the Bath Test, the two make it through and find the final test. The marker on a beaker shows that 10 pints of blood are needed to release the lock on the door. They are told that the human body has around 10 pints of blood in it, and can survive with just half of this. Brit and Mailick conclude they must both at least try to give five pints of blood each.

They notice there are five spaces in the trap, one for each of the original five test subjects.

They all could have survived each test if they had worked together, and would have only have had to give two pints of blood each in this final test. This way, they would all have had more of a chance of survival.
9. Hoffman forces Strahm into the glass filled coffin.

Answer: False

On the tape made for Strahm, Hoffman tells Strahm to get inside the coffin, and says that he'll "...be hurt, but ha[ve] a chance at life". Strahm knows it has been Hoffman helping Jigsaw, so obviously does not trust his words. Hoffman arrives in the room, and Strahm forces him at gun point to get into the box himself.

As the door to the coffin slams and locks shut, Hoffman motions to Strahm to tell him to continue playing the tape recording. It tells him that if he doesn't get into the box, this room will become his tomb. We see the walls of the room start to close in and the coffin, containing a smug Hoffman, starts to sink into the floor. Hoffman watches as Strahm is crushed to death.
10. Which of these things does Jigsaw NOT mention, when he tells Hoffman he is not blackmailing him?

Answer: Letting him live

In a flashback sequence, we see Hoffman has been captured by Jigsaw, after Jigsaw discovers Hoffman copied his work to kill Seth Baxter in the Pendulum Trap. He tests him by getting him to pull the trigger of a shot gun pointing straight at his throat.

The weapon does not fire. Jigsaw lets him out of the trap, and tells him that he will help out with setting up to traps, to teach other people to value their lives. Hoffman says, "So this is blackmail?" to which Jigsaw replies, "No, no, no. This is redemption. Just giving you an option. Now, you can arrest me, but doing so, your life ends as you know it. Or, you could explore the method of rehabilitation that'll permit you to sleep at night." Hoffman decides to help Jigsaw out, as he knows that he would end up going to prison for the murder of Seth Baxter, if he were to tell anyone who Jigsaw was.
