"Saw IV" - The Game Has Just Begun Quiz

Answer: Cassette tape

This tape is found during John's autopsy. The tape is for Lieutenant Mark Hoffman, and it tells him that he will be part of the next game.

Answer: Sight and Speech

We see one man, who we later find out to be a lawyer named Art, with his mouth sewn up and the other with his eyes sewn up. This makes any communication between the two pretty much impossible. Art sees a key on the back of the other man's neck, and ends up killing him to gain this key to unlock his chain.

Answer: Strahm and Perez

Agent Strahm and Agent Perez are called in as Detective Kerry has gone missing. Kerry was working with the FBI on the Jigsaw case. Strahm says that Jigsaw must have had another accomplice, other than Amanda, because she would have needed help getting Kerry into the trap, as she weighed more and was bigger than Amanda. Hoffman suggests Jigsaw could have helped her, to which Strahm says this is not the case, as Jigsaw is terribly cancer ridden, he would have been too weak to help.

Answer: Detective Matthews and Hoffman

The tape shows Rigg that Matthews is still alive (after six months) and we see him with a chain around his neck, hanging from the ceiling with a quickly melting block of ice beneath his feet. We also see Hoffman tied to a chair and we see that once the block of ice melts, the water will touch an electrical output near his chair, electrocuting him. Rigg is told he has 90 minutes to save them, as well as carry out other parts of his test.

Answer: False

When we see Brenda in the Hair Trap, Rigg searches for something sharp to cut her hair and free her from the trap. Unable to find one, he attemps to shoot the mechanism of the trap in another attempt to stop the trap and save her. This also fails, but he manages to find the numbers to the combination lock and unlock her. Brenda then attacks Rigg with a Knife she finds under the television, via instructions from Jigsaw's recording.

Answer: A white dog

Rigg entices the dog upstairs so Ivan will come to find it. Under instruction from Jigsaw's messages, Rigg forces Ivan into a trap, where he will have to poke his eyes out, or be torn apart if he fails in the alloted time. He fails to do both of his eyes, therefore failing his test.

The dog used in this scene is a dog named Chance, who belongs to the director of the film, Darren Lynn Bousman.

Answer: Morgan

This lady and her husband have been chosen because he has abused his child and wife. We hear him call his wife's name, Morgan, several times as she pulls out the metal rods. The tape has told her that the rods are piercing vital parts of her husbands body, and he will die if they are removed.

She has also been told that the points of her body through which the rods are placed, were not vital parts and she would survive. This is then her choice, to end the abuse he made his own daughter and her endure.

Answer: Billy

This is only referenced very briefly, but the name Billy is given to the puppet Jigsaw uses to represent himself when addressing his test subjects.

Answer: Art

Art is the lawyer representing Jill Tuck, Jigsaw's ex wife. Art has represented all the other victims in court in the past. This sets the trail onto him, as it is thought he might be helping Jigsaw and Amanda.

Answer: Gideon

We hear Jill speaking about her unborn son, who was tragically killed before he was born. She speaks about how her pregnancy was planned very carefully, and how they planned to call him Gideon. The death of his son is what triggers the initial rage in John, and he wants to teach people lessons to make them appreciate their lives more. Gideon Meat Factory is also the name of the building where John engineered and set up some of his traps and ideas.

It is also where several of his games take place in this film, including Rigg's final test.

Answer: Cecil

Because of the tragedy that befell his unborn son, John wants to teach the man who caused John's wife to lose her baby a lesson. We see many sketches of different ideas for traps, and he reveals the one he made first. The first ever trap John created and built consisted of the victim (i.e. Cecil) pushing his face up against several sharp knives, hard enough to release the blades cutting into his wrists and feet.

He would bleed to death if he did not succeed. He pushed and cut his face deeply, however the trap broke. Cecil, who was furious with John, leapt towards him, and John stepped aside. Cecil ended up falling into a cage and becoming entangled in barbed wire and razor wire.

Answer: Hoffman

When Rigg gets to his final test, he has a few seconds remaining on the clock. He does not follow the instructions set to him, which were to stay out until the timer runs out. He charges through the door, after Matthews tries to stop him by shouting and shooting a gun. Rigg, with a bullet in the chest, shoots Art as he thinks he is involved with the murders.

He sees Art holding a tape player and thinks its a gun. Because the door has been opened, two giant blocks of ice smash on Matthews head. We think they have all died, until Hoffman, who we now see has not been electrocuted as we imagined he would be.

He walks away mark free. We now understand he is part of the game and working with Jigsaw and Amanda.

Answer: Alongside "Saw 3"

We realise that these events are occurring at the same time as of those in "Saw 3" because when Strahm reaches the centre of the meat factory, he finds the room where John is being treated by Lynne, as we see in "Saw 3". Strahm hears a gun shot and sees a flash, again as we have previously seen in the film before, where Jeff shoots Amanda shortly upon entering the room.

When entering the room, he sees Jeff cradling his dead wife, as well as Amanda, who has been shot dead, the way we see the shotgun shells blow up in her face in "Saw 3". We also see John's dead body, who has just had his throat slashed by Jeff with the circular saw. Jeff thinks that Strahm has something to do with it and goes to shoot Strahm.

In an act of self defence, Strahm shoots Jeff, as predicted on the recording found by Perez and Strahm at the school.

Answer: Orange

Other than in flashbacks, this orange boiler suit is all we see Matthews wearing in this film. We see him at several points in the film, and can see he has a poorly constructed cast on his leg, after he broke his own ankle escaping the chain in the bathroom in the previous film.

Answer: True

Agent Strahm does survive this film. We see him at the end of the film, shooting Jeff, and having to take in the scene of Jigsaw with his throat cut, Amanda having been shot, and Lynne, whose head had been exploded by shotgun shells. He gets locked into the room by Hoffman before the film ends, so we have to wait until "Saw 5" to find out what happens to him following this.
