Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The main "game" of the movie involves five people starting in a room with metal buckets on their heads and metal collars around their necks. What must they do to escape the room?

Answer: Cut themselves on circular saws

"Jigsaw" was the eighth installment of the "Saw" series. The filming began in November of 2016 and the film was released on October 27, 2017. It grossed $103 million worldwide despite negative reviews.

Four of the "players" of the game are able to cut themselves before the chains attached to their collars pull them into the saws, but the fifth person, a man, is not able to wake up in time and is pulled into the saws by his chain.
2. The survivors of the first room are then given a tape for Carly, a purse snatcher, to listen to. Three syringes then appear, and the tape says Carly must inject herself with an antidote to a poison already in her system to survive. However, one of the syringes contains an acid which would kill her. What ultimately happens?

Answer: Another player injects her with all three syringes.

After the tape ends, the chains start to pull the players up in the air, threatening to suffocate them. Carly is unable to pick the correct syringe, so Ryan, out of desperation, injects her neck with all three. The collars then open and Carly dies from the acid injection.

The correct syringe contains the number 3.53, which was the amount of money she had stolen from a woman who had an asthma attack. The purse also contains an inhaler for the woman; Carly didn't save the woman, which made her a Jigsaw target.
3. The scenes of the game are interspersed with scenes depicting the police force finding and examining what appear to be the bodies of the game's victims. Where is the first victim found?

Answer: Hanging from a bridge

This was one of the scenes depicted in the trailer for the movie. A jogging woman runs under a bridge and sees bystanders staring up at it. When she turns to look, she sees the body and screams loudly. The police are then brought in to examine the body.
4. There are many signs that indicate that the first victim may be a Jigsaw target. Which of these is NOT one of these pieces of evidence?

Answer: John Kramer's fingerprints being on the victim's bucket

The "jigsaw piece" leads a pathologist, Eleanor, to believe that the killer may be a Jigsaw copycat. However, the recording found inside the wound (which says "The games have begun again") is later identified as having John Kramer's voice. The discovery of his blood under the victim's fingernails then leads them to suspect he is the one behind this, despite all evidence of him being dead for almost a decade.
5. The four police workers on the case are Detective Halloran, Detective Hunt, and pathologists Logan and Eleanor. Which of them is revealed to have an obsession with Jigsaw?

Answer: Eleanor

Halloran and Hunt had found that Eleanor had often browsed a Jigsaw fan site. When Logan confronts her about this, she takes him to a studio where she has constructed a multitude of replicas of Jigsaw traps. Hunt manages to follow them, witnesses the two together in the warehouse, and takes pictures as evidence.
6. Which of the police workers is highly suspected of the murders of three victims of the game, and then implicated by evidence?

Answer: Halloran

At the beginning of the movie, a key witness (who was supposedly involved in the game), was shot in the chest by a bullet which matches those that Halloran uses, leading Logan and Eleanor to believe Halloran had tried to silence him. After finding a third body, Hunt goes to Halloran's house in search of evidence, and finds "puzzle pieces" in his freezer. Because of this, Halloran is then the prime suspect in the murders.
7. Back in the game, Ryan must choose whether or not to make a sacrifice for the good of the group: having his leg amputated. Does he do it?

Answer: Yes

Ryan "breaks the rules" by trying to exit through a door that says "NO EXIT"; as a result, his leg falls through the floor and is ensnared by tight wires. Anna and Mitch, the remaining victims, are lured into a silo, where the doors lock. Ryan plays a tape that says he must pull a lever that would snap the wires shut, cutting off his leg, in order to free them. With grains (and later sharp objects) cascading onto Anna and Mitch, threatening to bury them alive, Ryan finds the courage to pull the lever.
8. When Ryan and Anna, the last two players in the game, reach their final test, John Kramer reveals himself to them as being the person who set the game up. He also reveals the reason he chose Anna as a victim. What did Anna do to draw the ire of Jigsaw?

Answer: She killed her infant child and framed her husband.

Anna and John were next-door neighbors when he was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout the movie Anna had claimed that her husband rolled over onto her child while asleep, suffocating it, when in fact she had killed the baby out of anger before placing it on the bed. Thus, her husband was implicated in killing the baby; he later committed suicide. John had deduced the truth by overhearing her screaming at the crying baby and then the baby being silent, and thus chose her as a victim.
9. For the final test, John loads a double-barrel gun, places it between Ryan and Anna, and leaves the room. Anna figures that John wants her to kill Ryan and takes the gun. What then happens?

Answer: The gun backfires, killing her.

Before loading the gun John tells Anna and Ryan they've been living life backwards, then shows them the casing and says, "Here's your key to freedom." Anna interprets this as John wanting her to kill Ryan. When she pulls the trigger, the gun backfires. Ryan then looks at the casing that John had put in the gun, and discovers two keys inside intended for chains that had locked them up.

When the gun fired, the keys had broken. Ryan is left to die.
10. At the very end of the film, it is revealed that Logan is the one responsible for the victims that were found; he lures Halloran into the game's location and dramatically kills him. Before Halloran dies, we find out a lot about Logan's past. Which of these is NOT true about Logan?

Answer: He had killed his wife.

In the main game of the film (which John set up 10 years prior), Logan was the unconscious man who got pulled into the saw blades. John nursed him back to health, deciding Logan shouldn't die because he made an honest mistake in drugging Logan too much. He then became a Jigsaw apprentice.

Logan recreated the premise of the original game with victims that Halloran (who is revealed to be a corrupt cop) had allowed to walk free. He placed the bodies for the police to find, and was responsible for planting John's blood in the first victim and forging the recordings of John's voice. Logan frames Halloran for the murders because Halloran allowed his wife's killer, a criminal informant, to walk free. The movie ends with laser cutters slicing open Halloran's head while Logan watches.
