Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which company does William Easton work for?

Answer: Umbrella Health

Umbrella Health is a company which provides medical insurance. William's team look through peoples' claims for insurance, and try to detect errors within them. We see him do exactly this when speaking to one client, as William tells the client he is being denied cover for his heart disease due to him not mentioning on his application that 30 years ago he had oral surgery.

As William explains oral surgery can lead to gum disease, which can in turn lead to heart disease. We find out later that this is the reason William is being tested; for unfairly denying people insurance when they desperately need it, have paid all their premiums and are entitled to cover.
2. The first trap we see involves two people with metal contraptions on their head. Why have they been chosen by Jigsaw?

Answer: They run an unfair loan company.

Simone, the woman from this first trap, is played by Tanedra Howard, who won her role by taking part in and winning the VH1 reality television show "Scream Queens". A second series of this show was commissioned to fill a part in "Saw: The Final Chapter".
Simone and Eddie are being tested as they run a loan company, but have high repayment schemes and use repossession to make up the loan values, "ruining peoples' lives", as in most cases it is obvious the customer would not be able to pay the money back.
3. Lindsay Perez survives this film.

Answer: False

It is presumed Agent Perez died in "Saw 4" when she is at the school with her partner, Agent Strahm. She hears a tape playing, moves closer to Billy (John's ventriloquists dummy), which subsequently explodes in her face. Erickson says that they wanted to keep her safe until they knew who was on whose side, so he tells everyone Perez died as they are unsure who is really trustworthy.

Unfortunately, when they reveal that she in fact is still alive, they tell the wrong person. It is Strahm who is thought to be an accomplice of Jigsaw, so they let Detective Hoffman in on the secret.

However, it is actually Hoffman working with Jigsaw, and he now knows all inside details from the police and FBI.
4. What liquid is being stored in the large yellow container, in the cell which Tara and Brent are being kept?

Answer: Hydrofluoric acid

The mother and son trapped in this cell are in fact the family of the man who died after being refused insurance by William, after failing to declare his oral surgery. Speaking about the acid, Brent informs his mother that "this stuff will eat through human flesh in seconds." The acid is in fact not connected to their cell, but to the cell in which William Easton ends up in. Tara battles with the decision of whether to kill him, and ends up not being able to do that.

Her son, however, wanting to avenge his father's death, is very happy to pull the lever and kill William by pumping his body full of the acid.
5. This is the first film in the "Saw" series to reuse a trap from a previous film. What is the device?

Answer: Reverse Bear Trap

This is the trap which Amanda is seen wearing in "Saw". Because she manages to free herself in the allotted time and escape, we do not actually see this trap work, apart from springing open only once unlocked and removed from Amanda's head. We see the Reverse Bear Trap reappear in this film, after John leaves it for his estranged wife, Jill Tuck, in his will. Following John's instructions which he left for her, she manages to get Detective Hoffman into the head trap.

After Jill leaves, Hoffman manages to break his hand with the trap to be able to free it from the restraints.

He then jams his head in between the bars on the door, to stop the trap from springing and killing him. He is able to tear himself free, leaving him with a large gash through his cheek. The Venus Fly Trap was used in the second film; Michael wakes up with the device on his head and must remove the key from behind his eye to survive.

The Rack is used in the third film; Timothy meets his death in this twisting crucifix after he killed Jeff's son. We do see this trap again, although it is within a flashback, and is not reused.

The Water Box Trap is what Agent Strahm finds himself in "Saw 5"; he manages to survive by using a pen to carry out a tracheotomy on himself!
6. What relationship do Pamela Jenkins and William Easton have?

Answer: Brother and sister

We hear this during a phone call between the pair; he says he has to work and she jokes that he is standing up his sister on her birthday for work. She also reminds him that she is his only family. Pamela Jenkins, played by Samantha Lemole, is a journalist who has been investigating and reporting on all of the stories surrounding the Jigsaw killings.
7. Which of the following do not contribute to Erikson and Agent Perez suspecting Detective Hoffman as the second accomplice to Jigsaw?

Answer: The Jigsaw killers victims' case files on Hoffmans desk

The victims' files were seen on Agent Strahm's desk in "Saw 5"; after he escapes his trap he becomes obsessed with the case and wants to investigate further. Perez and Erikson inform Hoffman that the knife used on Seth Baxter and Eddie is different from all the others. Hoffman sounds surprised that they can tell this slight difference.

They also tell him that a different voice had been found on those two tapes too; a sound technician tries to decrypt the tape while Perez informs Hoffman about another discovery.

She tells him about Strahm's fingerprints being found at the crime scene, the uric acid levels showing that Strahm was already dead when they were left. At this point, the tape is unscrambled and Hoffman's voice is clearly heard. He goes on to kill Perez, Erikson and the sound technician, and burn the office down.
8. Who directed this installment of the "Saw" series?

Answer: Kevin Greutert

This was his debut as a director; initially he was the editor for the first five "Saw" films. Kevin Greutert then went on to direct the seventh film. James Wan directed the first film. He also co-wrote the first and third films with Leigh Whannell, who played Adam in "Saw". David Hackl also directed one of the films, "Saw 5"; he was the production designer for films "2" through "4". Darren Lynn Bousman directed these three films; making him the director of the most of the films. All seven films were produced by Mark Burg, Oren Koules and Gregg Hoffman.
9. Which type of fish does John see in the tank in William Easton's office?

Answer: Piranha

We see this in a flash back when William is informing John that he would not be covered if he went for the new cancer treatment he speaks about. John seems almost amused when he sees these fish. This may be him seeing the irony of piranha being just pure predators; similar to William and his unfair insurance scheme.
10. Detective Hoffman takes all of the envelopes left to Jill by John in his will.

Answer: False

We see Jill Tuck with six clearly numbered brown envelopes which she takes out of the box which John leaves her. When having a heated discussion with Hoffman, he demands she give them all to him. He believes that he has all of the envelopes John left, and so thinks he is now in control. Jill has in fact only given him five.

These envelopes contain information and photographs of the victims for the next game; Hoffman wants to get this game started straight away. At the end of the film, we see Jill put Hoffman into the reverse bear trap.

She reveals says to him, "John left you five envelopes. The sixth one was for me." She takes out a photograph of Hoffman, and he realises he is now being tested; John's plan all along.
