Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For those who stayed till the end: When the credits finally roll, we see that 'The Dark Knight' is dedicated to two people - Heath Ledger and the stunt technician who died during filming. Name him.

Answer: Conway Wickliffe

Techician Conway Wickliffe died in a car crash in September 2007 during filming. Among the other choices, Ritchie Coster portrays the Chechen gangster, Ron Dean is Wuertz and Nathan Crowley is the production designer who brought the magnificent Gotham to life.
2. During the final showdown with Batman, what lyric of a famous song used in movies including 'Misery', 'The Aviator' and 'The Notebook' does the Joker mutter?

Answer: "All the old familiar places..."

The line is part of the popular 'I'll Be Seeing You' written by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal. It was published in 1938. The Clown Prince of Crime murmurs this as he pulls out a small dagger and stabs Batman, who is trapped in a net.
3. In one of the most brilliant stunt scenes of all time, Batman topples a huge trailer truck hijacked by the Joker and his henchmen. What ghastly piece of advice is scrawled on the side of this trailer?

Answer: Slaughter is the best medicine

This can be clearly seen when the Joker leans out of the side of the truck to shoot at the van transporting Harvey Dent to the County. It was 'Laughter is the best medicine' and the 'S' was later added with spray paint - a subtle hint of the Joker's malice.
4. What scheduled performance of the Moscow Ballet is canceled when Bruce Wayne absconds with the entire troupe on his yacht, dubbed the 'Love Boat'?

Answer: Giselle

The announcement of the cancellation is stuck over the poster of 'Giselle' and the title can be seen clearly in the scene where Harvey and Rachel arrive at the opera. The other options are also plays in the same theater and can be seen in the same scene.
5. After Wuertz remarks that 'investigation is ongoing' for the capture of the masked vigilante Batman, we are shown photographs of Batman suspects. Who among the following is NOT a suspect?

Answer: Jimmy Hoffa

Wuertz tells this to Anna Ramirez at the beginning of the movie when they see the Mayor of Gotham claim in a TV interview that they were close to arresting Batman. Wuertz, along with Ramirez, are the corrupt cops in Gordon's Major Crimes Unit whose betrayal leads to Rachel's death and Harvey's disfigurement.
6. Which of the following best describes the Gotham City coat of arms as depicted in 'The Dark Knight'?

Answer: A ship, 2 swords, a circle of stars

The Gotham City flag depicting its coat of arms can be seen clearly at the ending where Jim Gordon delivers his eulogy at Dent's funeral beneath a large photograph of Dent, taken before his accident.
7. When Judge Surrillo and Commissioner Loeb are killed by the Joker, Alfred accuses Bruce of pushing the mobsters in Gotham to the point of desperation. What is Bruce's reply? (Hint: Henry Ducard tells Bruce the same line in 'Batman Begins'.)

Answer: "Criminals aren't complicated."

Right after this, Alfred tells Bruce a remarkable tale of a bandit in the forests of Burma who plundered merely for the sport of it. In 'Batman Begins', when Bruce explains that he traveled the world to understand the criminal mind, Ducard simply remarks, "But a criminal is not complicated."
8. "It's not about the money, it's about sending a message". What is the Joker's message?

Answer: "Everything burns!"

The Joker is angry that the mobsters of Gotham care only about money. So he burns their money, takes over their henchmen and decides to give Gotham 'a better class of criminals'. The Joker proclaims his message as the Chechen is dragged away to be killed.
9. After Rachel's death, Batman pulls out all the plugs to find Joker. He uses the sonar concept developed by Lucius and spies on the entire city. When Lucius objects to this, Batman assures him that the database is encrypted and that only one person can access it. What encryption has Batman used?

Answer: Null-key encryption

When Batman informs Lucius that he (Lucius) is the one that can access the information, Lucius replies, "Spying on 30 million people isn't part of my job description," giving us one more bit of trivia: Gotham's population. Interestingly, there is no encryption algorithm called 'null-key encryption'.
10. The Joker poisons Commissioner Loeb's drink and manages to get rid of him for the mob. What brand is this bottle of whiskey that the Commissioner keeps in his office as 'an appropriate response' to situations of dire threat?

Answer: Clyburn

This was a prop used for the movie and there is no actual whiskey by this name. The label can be read during a close-up of the bottle when the Commissioner places it on the table, and proceeds to blame Gordon for making him late for dinner with his wife.
