Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of "Venom", a rocket crash-landed on a planet. Which planet did it land on?

Answer: Earth

The rocket was owned by the Life Foundation, an American bio-engineering company run by Carlton Drake. It was carrying alien life forms when it crashed in Malaysia. The Life Foundation were exploring other planets to find a replacement for Earth, as Carlton Drake believed that the world's resources would run out within a generation and a new home needed to be found.

The aliens were discovered on a comet by the space explorers.
2. Eddie Brock was working in an investigative career at the start of "Venom". What was his job?

Answer: A journalist

Eddie Brock was played by Tom Hardy. He was an investigative journalist for a TV network at the beginning of the film. He was asked to interview Carlton Drake, who wanted to talk about the space exploration section of his business. But Eddie couldn't help himself.

He questioned Drake on the shadier side of his business, including a series of deaths (which Eddie found out about by secretly reading his finance's emails). He and his finance, Anne, both lost their jobs as a result.
3. What name was given to the alien parasites that the Life Foundation had captured?

Answer: Symbiotes

Symbiotes couldn't survive in an oxygen-rich atmosphere like that on Earth: they needed a host. Often, however, the symbiosis did not work, which could have fatal consequences for both the symbiote and its host. Like an organ donation, the two organisms needed to be compatible.
4. In "Venom", how did the parasite get inside Eddie?

Answer: It passed into him when he tried to rescue its host.

The Life Foundation began human trials without proper approval. They took vulnerable people who were desperate for the money and exposed them to the symbiotes. Often, the humans experienced pain and some died.

One of the scientists on the project, Dr. Dora Skirth, was concerned about Drake's treatment of the test subjects and the power he held over his employees. She helped Eddie to break into the Life Foundation so that he could take pictures and eventually expose her employer. While he was there, Eddie saw a homeless woman called Maria, who he knew. He tried to free her from the cell that she was in, but as soon as she was out, she attacked Eddie and the symbiote passed into him.
5. How long did it take for Venom's abilities to become apparent in Eddie's body?

Answer: It happened instantly.

The symbiote that bonded with Eddie was called Venom. Its effects were instant. Eddie was able to escape the Life Foundation building using the super-human powers of the symbiote inside him. He literally broke out of the building by crashing through the doors, walls, and fences. Eddie then climbed up a tree to hide from the guards who were looking for him on the ground.

Although Eddie gained Venom's super-human abilities straight away, he could not control them. There were some negative effects, too: he had a temperature and an insatiable hunger.
6. What colour was Venom when he manifested fully?

Answer: Black

Symbiotes had shape-shifting abilities. As soon as Venom was inside Eddie, he could form new appendages and turn his hands into weapons like knives. Eddie's body parts would turn black when Venom was in control of them. Eventually, Eddie could completely change into Venom.

The alien's body was black and he had long, narrow, white eyes. He also had sharp teeth like a shark's and an incredibly long, pink tongue.
7. Which of these was a weakness of the aliens that the Life Foundation captured in "Venom"?

Answer: High-pitched noises

Symbiotes couldn't cope with high-pitched noises. Eddie went to his ex-fiance, Anne, for help figuring out what was wrong with his body. Her new partner was a doctor who admitted Eddie to his hospital for tests. They tried to do an MRI, but the noise seriously affected Eddie and the symbiote inside him.
8. Which parasite used Carlton Drake as a host in "Venom"?

Answer: Riot

When the rocket crash-landed in Malaysia, there were four symbiotes onboard. Three of them were recovered by the Life Foundation but one remained free. It made its way from Malaysia to San Francisco by hopping from body to body. In San Francisco, Riot bonded with Drake. Riot was the leader of the group of symbiotes that came to Earth and was stronger than Venom.
9. In "Venom", why did the aliens allow themselves to be brought to Earth?

Answer: They wanted to invade.

The symbiotes were scouting for a world to feast on. The Life Foundation astronauts found their comet while looking for a new planet to live on. The symbiotes allowed themselves to be captured with the intention of escaping. Riot convinced Carlton Drake to bond with him. Using Drake's body and his influence at the Life Foundation, he attempted to use one of the company's rockets to collect the rest of the symbiotes.
10. Venom and Eddie died in the rocket explosion at the end of the film.

Answer: False

Riot was going to use the Life Foundation's rocket to bring more symbiotes to Earth. Eddie, Anne, and Venom tried to prevent Riot from leaving. Venom - using Eddie's body - tried to fight Riot hand-to-hand, even though he knew he was physically weaker. Anne broke into the control room and used the sound system to create a high-pitched noise, harming the symbiotes. Venom was able to damage the rocket, causing it to explode and kill Riot. Venom and Eddie survived the explosion and secretly began a vigilante career.
