Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "The bad guys are running away but they won't get far: Helen Parr is here! Hang on, that's not Helen." What was the name of Helen Parr's incredible alter ego?

Answer: Elastigirl

Elastigirl's secret identity was Helen Parr and, as her name suggests, she could stretch her limbs like rubber. At one point in "The Incredibles", she and two of her children were plummeting through the air towards the ocean. Elastigirl stretched her arms and grabbed the children.

Then she stretched her back to form a parachute to soften their landing. She also turned her body into a life raft so that they could safely get to land.
2. "Look at what he's doing to the car! That's incredible - I mean, that's Mr Incredible!" What was Mr Incredible's superpower?

Answer: He was super-strong and could lift heavy things.

Mr Incredible was super-humanly strong. He could lift cars and burst through brick walls with no visible damage to himself. Bob's super-strength also came in useful at home: he could lift the sofa so that Helen could vacuum under it. Being very strong had its disadvantages, too. Bob accidentally dented the roof of his car when he put his hand out to prevent himself from falling.
3. "Look at what those supers have done! They have no right to interfere like this!" They were superheroes - they were saving people. Why did they get into trouble?

Answer: They were causing damage while trying to help people.

In their attempts to prevent crimes and accidents, the superheroes were actually causing different problems. Mr Incredible stopped a train from crashing, but some of the passengers were injured as a result of his actions. Even though they had been saved from potential death, the superhero faced lawsuits from people who had rolled around inside the carriage.

Mr Incredible also got into trouble when he rescued a man during a suicide attempt. Mr Incredible argued that he saved the man's life; the man argued that the superhero had ruined his death. In the end, the government wouldn't pay any more legal fees and banned supers from using their powers.
4. "Violet, where are you?" Helen and Bob got married and had children. Which superpower did Violet have?

Answer: She could become invisible.

Violet could become invisible - a power she often used when she was scared or shy. It must have been worrying for her parents when she was young. I can imagine Mr Incredible taking baby Violet out of her crib, only for her to appear to vanish moments later. As a teenager, Violet used her power to avoid the attention of her crush, and to spy on her parents when they were arguing.
5. "How did you do that? Whatever you do, don't stop!" Violet could do something else, too. Which of these was one of her powers in "The Incredibles"?

Answer: She could create force fields.

Violet was able to create a purple force field to protect herself. At the start of "The Incredibles", she mostly used her power against her brother. It wasn't until the two of them were fighting armed henchmen in the jungle that she realised she could create a bubble around herself and others.
6. "He put a tack on my chair! I saw him! Didn't you see him?!" The Parr's eldest son was called Dashiell Robert Parr. How did his nickname fit his superpower?

Answer: He was called Dash and he was incredibly fast.

Dash was super fast and liked to win. He wanted to join a school sports team - he tried to persuade his mom that he would only win by 'a little bit'. His mom, however, was worried that Dash would be too arrogant and would accidentally reveal his superpower. Sometimes he used his super speed to irritate his teachers at school. Edna took Dash's speed into account when she designed his suit: she used material that would limit the amount of friction generated as he moved around.
7. "The only normal one is Jack-Jack, and he's not even toilet trained." Jack-Jack, the youngest Parr, was the first to demonstrate his abilities in "The Incredibles". True or false?

Answer: False

Originally, the Parrs thought that baby Jack-Jack was a normal human. He hadn't displayed any special abilities in the first year of his life. The rest of his family had demonstrated their powers multiple times in "The Incredibles" before Jack-Jack was given his moment to shine.
8. "I have the baby now... he's going to be a brilliant sidekick." When Syndrome kidnapped Jack-Jack in "The Incredibles", which of these powers did the baby demonstrate?

Answer: He turned into a red monster.

At the beginning of "The Incredibles", Jack-Jack's family thought he was just a normal baby. It wasn't until he was left in the care of a babysitter playing Mozart that his abilities became evident.

Syndrome kidnapped Jack-Jack and when the baby realised that something bad was happening, he burst into flames. He then appeared to turn into a heavy metal, and then he turned into a red monster with sharp teeth and began to attack his captor. A wider range of Jack-Jack's abilities was demonstrated in the Pixar short film, "Jack-Jack Attack". His superpowers were also explored in the 2018 sequel "The Incredibles 2".
9. "I'm thirsty. I'm just getting a drink." Not all superheroes were Incredible. Which superhero was Mr Incredible's friend?

Answer: Frozone

When supers became illegal, Mr Incredible and his friend, Frozone, occasionally worked as vigilantes. One night, they tried to save people trapped in a burning building. As they escaped, however, they were mistakenly implicated in a jewellery heist. Frozone froze a police officer in place so that he and Mr Incredible could escape.
10. "Everyone can be superheroes, everyone can be super!" Not all power was used for good. In "The Incredibles", what was Syndrome's special ability?

Answer: He invented lots of things.

Buddy Pine was a brilliant inventor, even at a young age. As a child, he wanted to be Mr Incredible's sidekick, but the superhero refused his help. As an adult, he took on the alter ego, Syndrome, and planned to take his revenge. He wanted to eliminate 'special abilities' by using his inventing skills to make everyone a superhero. In "The Incredibles", he said, "I'll sell my inventions, so that everyone can be superheroes, everyone can be super! And when everyone's super, no one will be."

Fortunately, the Incredibles were able to prevent Syndrome from realising his dream!
