I Get Around Trivia Quiz
'I Get Around', sang the Beach Boys, but they're not the only ones to have a song with 'around' in the title. Can you get your head around these and match the title with the singer or band? Some UK bias.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Up Around the Bend
Answer: Creedence Clearwater Revival
Written by John Fogerty, the band's lead singer, 'Up Around the Bend' was a big hit for CCR. It reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and one place better on the UK Singles Chart in 1970. Other hits for the band include 'Proud Mary' and 'Bad Moon Rising', both from 1969.
2. Spinning Around
Answer: Kylie Minogue
Helped by having come to public attention from her appearance in the Australian soap opera 'Neighbours', Kylie turned her talents to singing in the late 1980s, and has remained popular well into the twenty-first century. She had a major hit in both the UK and USA in 2001 with 'Can't Get You out of My Head'. 'Spinning Around' dates from 2000 and reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and on her home country's ARIA Charts.
3. All Around my Hat
Answer: Steeleye Span
Originally formed in 1969, Steeleye Span were among the forerunners of the folk-rock movement, with Fairport Convention being the other leading exponents of the genre. With Maddy Prior's distinctive voice, the band had some chart success. 'Gaudete', a Christmas song in Latin (yes, really), reached the UK Singles Chart at number fourteen in 1972. 'All Around My Hat' was their most successful single, peaking at number five in the UK in 1975.
4. Shop Around
Answer: The Miracles
The song was written by Berry Gordy and William Robinson, better known as 'Smokey', and became a hit in 1960, reaching number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. At the time, the band was known only as The Miracles - the name was changed to Smokey Robinson and the Miracles in 1965.
Although the band is well known in the UK, only one of their songs made the top ten this side of the Atlantic, with 'Tears of a Clown' managing number nine in 1965. 'Shop Around' was also recorded by Captain and Tennille in 1976.
5. Love is all Around
Answer: The Troggs
The song was written by Reg Presley, the lead singer of The Troggs, and was a number one hit for the band in the UK. It also did reasonably well in the USA. It had a second lease of life in 1994 when it was featured in the film 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', in a version by Wet Wet Wet.
The song was also used in the film 'Love Actually' (2003), with the lyrics changed to 'Christmas is All Around' sung by the fictional Billy Mack, played by Bill Nighy.
6. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Answer: Brenda Lee
Brenda Lee had a long and successful career, beginning in 1955 and still ongoing in the twenty-first century. 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' was released in 1958 in the USA and four years later in the UK. It has become a staple of the Christmas season, which seems to start around October most years.
It has sold over twenty-five million copies, including downloads, according to Wikipedia.
7. Don't Turn Around
Answer: Aswad
Diane Warren and Albert Hammond wrote the song, with the first recording being by Tina Turner in 1986, but only as a B side. The British group Aswad recorded their version in 1988, taking it to number one on the UK Singles Chart and reaching the top ten in other European countries. Ace of Base's version, in 1994, was also successful and may be better known in the USA than that by Aswad.
8. Stop Draggin' my Heart Around
Answer: Stevie Nicks
The song was written by Tom Petty and he and his band, The Heartbreakers, also played on the recording, which originally appeared on Stevie's solo album, 'Bella Donna'. She had begun recording songs for it while still a member of Fleetwood Mac, with whom she had achieved great success.
As a single release, Stevie reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, but the song made little impact in the UK.
9. Coming Around Again
Answer: Carly Simon
Written by Carly, the song was the title track of her 1987 album of the same name. Released as a single in late 1986, prior to the album, 'Coming Around Again' achieved number ten in the UK Singles Chart and number five on the US Contemporary chart. Carly's best known song is, of course, 'You're So Vain' from 1972, and she also recorded the theme song to the 1977 James Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me', called 'Nobody Does it Better'.
10. Wrapped Around Your Finger
Answer: The Police
The song was on 'Synchronicity', the band's fifth album released in 1983. Other songs from the album include 'Every Breath You Take' and 'King of Pain'.
'Wrapped Around Your Finger' was written by Sting, the band's lead singer, and reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart and number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100.
