The song was written by Syd Barrett and was intended as a non-album single. Later it was included in the US version of their debut album "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn". At the time Dave Gilmour had not yet joined the band. Syd Barrett claimed that the song is about a vision (of a girl) he had after taking drugs. Later he said that in fact it was not true as he had said this just for the publicity.
