Paul's eyes were said to change from hazel to green at times. John was particularity short-sighted.

When he landed at Tokyo's Narita International Airport on January 16, 1980 for a tour with Wings, Paul was found to have half a pound of marijuana in his luggage
In 2004 McCartney said of the incident: "We were about to fly to Japan and I knew I wouldn't be able to get anything to smoke over there. This stuff was too good to flush down the toilet, so I thought I'd take it with me."
In March 1973, McCartney was arrested for growing cannabis at his farm in Scotland and fined £100.
Apparently he told the police he thought they were just pot plants. (That is a joke, the way.)

John met Cynthia Powell in 1957 while they were both at Art School in Liverpool. They married on August 23 1962.
The marriage was kept a secret from the hordes of mainly female Beatles fans.
They had a son, Julian, in 1963, but divorced in November 1968.
4. Which of the Beatles mortgaged his home so that a Monty Python movie could be made?

Answer: George

George was into movies - the director of the Beatles movie "A Hard Day's Night" said he was the best of the Fab Four during the filming.
In 1979, the Pythons were having difficulty raising funds for "The Life Of Brian." George gave them $4m after mortgaging his home "because he wanted to see the film." The film grossed $20m.
5. Which of the Beatles narrated the popular children's cartoon show featuring "Thomas the Tank Engine"?

Answer: Ringo

Originally "Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends" could be found in a series of books written by Reverend Wilbert Awdry They told the story of the adventures of a railway engine - Thomas - and his various railway friends.
The books were made into TV series, with Ringo the narrator in seasons one and two, 1984 and 1986.
A total of 19 seasons had been made by the time this quiz was written. The show was renamed "Thomas & Friends" in 2003
6. Which of the Beatles appeared in a black comedy anti-war movie about an inept WWII British platoon commander?

Answer: John

John played Sgt Gripweed in "How I Won The War", (1967) which was shot in Spain and Germany. He co-starred with Michael Crawford and Roy Kinnear.
Set at the end of the war, it featured Crawford as a lieutenant outlining the 'heroics' of his platoon to a German officer. In fact he was a bumbler as the movie showed with comments by his soldiers, some of them dead. They regretted that they had not in fact killed him themselves at some point.
John had to have his hair cut for the movies and started wearing the round spectacles that were to become his trademark.

The ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace, with hordes of fans lining up outside.
McCartney said that from that time the surviving Beatles - George and Ringo - started calling him "your holiness'
He dedicated his knighthood to Harrison, Starr and Lennon and the people of Liverpool.
After the ceremony, McCartney told reporters he was ""Proud to be British, wonderful day and it's a long way from a little terrace in Liverpool."
8. After the Beatles broke up, who was the first to have a solo hit?

Following the parting of the ways, the foursome were to have over 20 number one solo hits in either the UK or USA, but the first was George with "My Sweet Lord". It topped the charts in 15 territories, including the UK and the US Billboard Hot 100, in 1970.
He was later to be sued for plagiarism over similarities between his song and one called "He's So Fine" by Ronnie Mack and had to pay damages.
9. Good doggie: Which of the Beatles had a solo hit written about his Labrador?

"Jet" was named for Macca's Labrador retriever and was a hit for him with Wings, reaching number seven in both the UK and on the Billboard charts.
It was taken from the "Band On The Run" album, which was a chart topper in six countries, including the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

John was to tell his biographer Ray Coleman: "I can't say I ever liked hearing myself."
He once said he would like to rerecord all the Beatles songs and, reportedly was asked "even Strawberry Fields"? And replied "especially Strawberry Fields."
George Martin the Beatles producer, was often implored by John to "do something" about his voice.
