Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Homer announced upon entering BeatleLand, "I knew there would be a banana-colored submersible! They couldn't have resisted. Let's ride it now to the Sea of Green." What most likely would this Beatle-inspired attraction be called?

Answer: Yellow Submarine Underwater Adventure

The description most closely matches "Yellow Submarine" from the movie and song of the same name. "Yellow Submarine" charted at number 2 in August of 1966.
2. Marge announces, "I don't know, Homer. This looks a little scary for the kids. I mean, a woman's face in the window, a clergyman walking away from a grave, and a face kept in a jar. Sounds ominous to me." What could this spooky attraction be called?

Answer: Eleanor Rigby's Haunted Church

The reference is to "Eleanor Rigby" from the revered "Revolver" LP. The song went to number 11 on U.S. charts, but surprisingly, the only other track to go to U.S. top 40 charts was "Got to Get You Into My Life" which hit number 7 ten years later.
3. Bart exclaimed, "Look Lisa, it's the BeatleLand Shooting Gallery. Everyone plays except Maggie. Sorry, Maggie." Which Beatle song would NOT contribute a song about guns to this attraction?

Answer: Run for Your Life

"Run for Your Life" is about vengeance, but does not mention a gun. The other choices, all from "The Beatles" (White Album), have reference to a gun.
4. Homer needs to sit awhile, so he announces, "Look Marge! A theatre playing a half-hour long movie featuring a barber showing photographs, a fireman, a banker in a motorcar, and mmmmmm...fish and finger pies. Let's put on our special glasses and see this!" What attraction are the Simpsons about to enter here at Beatleland?

Answer: Penny Lane 3-D Experience

"Penny Lane" went to number one for a week. The song is from "Magical Mystery Tour" (1967) which spawned other top 40 hits "Strawberry Fields", "Baby, You're a Rich Man", "Hello, Goodbye", and "All You Need is Love". Beatlemania was in full swing.
5. "Homer, I'm exhausted. Mom needs to turn off her mind and float downstream. I am not dying, I am not dying, just tired. Think I'll surrender to the void." What would Marge's restful ride most likely be called?

Answer: The Tomorrow Never Knows River Ride

The lyrics come from "Tomorrow Never Knows" on "Revolver".
6. "Oh look, Homer! A great shopping area where they give you your own barrow. There's a jeweler's store and you can even let the children lend a hand. Hmmmmm, why is that guy putting on his pretty face? Oh, well. Let's shop." What could this shopping area most likely be called?

Answer: The Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Marketplace

The answer is based on "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da", a cheery song that surprisingly did not go into the U.S. top 40. Just for clarification, the emporium and the boutique would probably not accommodate a barrow, but they are references to the song.
7. "Gee Dad, Bart and I would love to go on this water ride. There's coral to see, it's near a cave, and it's a hideaway beneath the ocean waves. Best of all, there's no one there to tell us what to do." What most likely would this attraction be that seems so enticing to Lisa and Bart?

Answer: Octopus's Garden

"Octopus's Garden" is from "Abbey Road" LP (1969). Other top 40 hits from the LP were "Come Together" and "Something".
8. Marge spots an intriguing attraction. "Lisa, look! It's The BeatleLand Girl Group Karaoke Club. You would be good. The Beatles recorded three girl group songs and I think you know all of them. Looks fun!" Which three songs would undoubtedly be featured in this karaoke club?

Answer: Chains, Boys, Baby It's You

All three girl group covers can be found on the "Please Please Me" CD. "Baby, It's You" and "Boys" are by The Shirrelles (1962), and "Chains" was done by The Cookies (1962).
9. "Woo Hoo! This ride looks exciting! Fasten your seat belts. The BeatleBuggy starts in the docks at South Hampton, spins through Holland, France, Paris, Gibraltar, includes a lightning trip to Vienna, and a plane simulation experience back to London." What could this attraction be called? You know it ain't easy.

Answer: John and Yoko's Wild Ride

OK, it is easy afterall. There are lots of clues here from "The Ballad of John and Yoko". The catchy, rocking song went to number 8 in June of 1969.
10. Even Homer knows when he has had enough. "Uh, Marge. I don't recommend the flying ride I just took. Man, I had a dreadful flight. That's why I had the paper bag on my knee. You don't know how lucky you are, Marge, not going on this one. But I did get to see some Ukraine and Moscow girls." According to his description, what ride did Homer most likely just survive?

Answer: Back in the U.S.S.R. Jet Simulator

"Back in the U.S.S.R" is the opening track on "The Beatles" album. Oh, a final note from Homer: "It's been fun, and now I think it's time we got back homeward. In a way, BeatleLand is a silly place. Thank you and goodnight."
