Pete Best was the first Beatle drummer. His tenure was interrupted when the band selected a certain Ringo Starr (also known as Richard Starkey) to play for Best. After this decision, people started picket lines outside shows saying things like "Best is best" and "Best is bingo, not Ringo".

The Beatle's Producer, George Martin, at the same time picked another drummer without the band's permission. This is the reason that session drummer Andy White appears on the LP cut of the hit single "Love Me Do". It was initially released on Abbey Road. Mainly written by Paul McCartney, it is based upon a poem by Thomas Dekker and written in a lullaby style.McCartney got the idea for the song when he was at his father's house. He was going through old books and found this poem along with music for it. Paul immediately fell in love with the poem, but since he could not read music, wrote his own music and some extra lyrics.

John wanted to dissolve the band in 1969, but was persuaded to stay in the band, by Paul McCartney, until the release of their final album, "Let it Be". By the end of 1969, Lennon had effectively left the band. Paul, George and Ringo were re-working George's 'I, Me, Mine' in early 1970 and the three members of the band still existed as a unit. Paul's announcement in the press on April 10th, 1970 started the breakup, and the official dissolution of the partnership was in 1975.
