5. What Beatles' song was the first to make it to number one on the UK charts, according to the Record Retailer (now known as UK Singles) chart? (These four options are the first four the Beatles recorded)

Answer: From Me To You

"My Bonnie" was the first Beatles single formally recorded but this was a German import on the Polydor label. It was officially recorded in 1962 and credited to "Tony Sheridan and The Beat Brothers". It was famously the single a boy asked Brian Epstein for at his record shop in Liverpool. Brian hunted the band down and found them performing at "The Cavern Club" in Liverpool - so impressed was Brian by the sound that he signed them up and managed them. The rest is history. The reason for the "Beat Brothers" credit was that in Germany the word 'pidels', pronounced 'peedles', was plural slang for 'penis'.

"Love Me Do" was the first UK single and was released 5th October 1962. It reached number 17 in the UK charts.

"Please Please Me" was the second UK single. It reached number two 17th January 1963.

"From Me To You" was the third UK single. It was their first of 17 number one UK hits and hit the top spot 18th April 1963.

Answer: Paul McCartney

9. The British "Daily Telegraph" once compared the Beatles to Hitler.

Answer: True

10. When Brian Epstein built a contract with the Beatles, his was the only signature not on the contract.

Epstein's assistant, Alastair, signed as a witness and all members of the Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Pete Best signed the contract; however, Epstein's signature was the only one missing from the contract.
