The unique Edward Larrikin has an amazing talent as a poet and lyricist, citing George Orwell and Oscar Wilde amongst his influences. Perhaps, viewed as pretentious claims by many, however, the enthralling flair of Larrikin Love's music makes it difficult to argue with his expertise.

The band is having an enjoyable, seemingly innocent jaunt through the countryside. They stop in a pretty little forest and we discover that all along they've had poor Rob (the violinist) in the boot (trunk if you speak American.) The violent little swines!

The story behind this song is rather interesting, apparently Edward and his girlfriend were on a train journey, they saw an albino girl crying on the shoulder of her male friend, who was reassuring her. They begin to wonder about the girl and the reason behind her tears. Edward imagines the girl's friend guiding her into a new world, a small example of how love of different kinds can provide so much in life. Another interesting fact regarding this song is that it features Jamie T on backing vocals.

"You open up your eyes and you're underneath a first class seat. Your yellow hair and purple eyes are bleeding defeat, your mother always told you that freedom was just a lie. So I'm here to show you what life can be like. I hold a box and in it there's a new world!"

'England has nothing more to offer me, everything that I adore came well before 1984.' Dissatisfaction with modern England is a reoccurring theme throughout the album; however, it is coupled with a romantic, nostalgic longing for the beauty which existed in the country's past.

This song, the band's first single, has addictively catchy guitars fused with absorbing lyrics telling of how the quest for discovery can merge both joy and pain. 'There's a symphony in my heart, And I've lost all my morals.'

Another perfect example of Edward's poetic prowess, once again speaking of disaffection with the reality of the modern world, we find ourselves within and the hope for something more pure. 'So breathe some air, run away for a day, a lover not a tearaway. My friend, the city is close but clarity is far away.'

Once again, the music enchants and Larrikin paints pictures with his lyrics. You can almost smell the salty air, feel the wind in your hair and the responsibilities ebb away as the world dissolves. That is, until you have to go do some studying/work. Ah well it's nice to dream.

Larrikin Love are an amazing British band, whose music is unique, intriguing, captivating and genre transcending. The future looks bright for these guys! Their debut album, 'The Freedom Spark' is merely a taste of what's to come and we all know what sparks produce, bright and beautiful flames.
