Pino Palladino, who went on to replace the late John Entwistle in The Who, was bass player for The Royal Family. Howard Jones and Alison Moyet were also 80s stars who had more success in UK than USA. Shelia Chandra was a British-Indian experimental music star.

Listen to the lyrics of "Speed King" and it's obvious that Ian Gillan was heavily influenced by the likes of Little Richard and Chuck Berry. The other three bands are all of the same era and high on my personal playlist.
