Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I spoke to a nurse about my illness and was asked to describe my symptoms. I replied, "I got chills, they're multiplying. And I'm losing control". In which musical movie would you hear the song for which these are the opening lines?

Answer: Grease

"Grease" debuted on stage in Chicago in 1971 and was such a success that it had runs on Broadway and in London's West End in 1972 and 1973 respectively. Then in 1978 "Grease" went mega, reaching a whole new audience with the release of the movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Two new songs that didn't appear in the stage show were written for the movie version, these being "Hopelessly Devoted To You" and "You're The One That I Want." Although "You're The One That I Want" hit number one on charts all around the world, and increased demand for the movie, Randal Kleiser, the film's director, never liked this song as he felt it didn't fit with the songs from the original stage production.
2. The nurse came back with a snap diagnosis of lockjaw. I don't think that's right, but who took "Lockjaw" into the top 20 of the Billboard Hot Rap chart in USA in 2016?

Answer: French Montana

French Montana was born in Morocco and upon arriving in USA at age 13, spoke only Moroccan Arabic and French, so to make a very successful living as a wordsmith shows the talent of the man. "Lockjaw" was one of several French Montana releases that graced the Billboard Hot Rap and R&B charts in USA starting with his debut single, "Shot Caller" in 2012.

In 2017, Montana achieved his biggest chart success to date, when "Unforgettable" topped the Billboard Rap chart, as well as reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA and reaching the top ten in the national charts in Canada, UK and Australia.
3. "That can't be right", I said. "After all, I'm also feeling... Oh what's the word? You know the one, Tommy Roe had a number one hit with it in 1969.

Answer: Dizzy

Although Roe had fairly constant success on American charts, it wasn't the case in UK, where he had two top ten hits in 1963 with "Everybody" and "The Folk Singer" then had a six year barren spell before the phenomenal success that was "Dizzy" (1969). "Dizzy" also topped the charts in Canada and USA on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as going top ten in Australia and Germany and proved to be his last top 20 hit in UK.

In 1991, comedian Vic Reeves teamed up with Wonder Stuff to record a cover of "Dizzy", which also reached number one on UK charts.
4. "Ah, well that changes everything" exclaimed the nurse. "The only possible diagnosis is industrial disease." Who sang about "Industrial Disease" on their 1982 album "Love Over Gold"?

Answer: Dire Straits

"Love Over Gold" was the fourth album from Dire Straits, and for many fans, their finest studio work. "Industrial Disease" was released as a single from the album and although it never had any great chart success, it was praised for its intelligent lyrics and effective instrumental introduction. "Love Over Gold" went to number one in the album charts of many countries but only reached number 19 on the Billboard 200 in USA, making it their joint worst performing studio album there, along with 1980s "Making Movies".
5. I sought a second opinion and added another symptom to my list, one that I share with a rock star. Who asked in 1979, "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?"

Answer: Frank Zappa

"Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?" was a track on Zappa's great 1979 album, "Joe's Garage", an album that also included the tracks "Catholic Girls" and the wonderful title track. "Joe's Garage" was Zappa's sixth album to enter the top 30 of the Billboard 200 in USA, which isn't bad for an artist that was anything but mainstream.
6. The Aussie doctor looked at me and asked, "Are you familiar with the works of AC/DC?" Which of the band's tracks from 1975 is about a sexually transmitted disease?

Answer: The Jack

"The Jack" was a track on AC/DC's Australian-release only album, "T.N.T." (1975), and then included on their first internationally released album, "High Voltage" (1976). The jack is Australian slang for gonorrhea, and the inspiration for the song according to former vocalist Bon Scott in a 1976 interview with "Sounds" magazine, came from a "houseful of ladies who were all very friendly and everyone in the band had got the jack."
7. Well, that can't be right, so I'm out of there and into the first doctor's office I see. As I sit there looking at all the cute animals on the wall, I think of the previous doctor and start to shiver. Which Australian had a UK top ten hit with "Shiver" in 2005?

Answer: Natalie Imbruglia

Natalie Imbruglia was in the cast of Australian TV soap opera "Neighbours" between 1992 and 1994 and became a successful singer in 1997 with her cover of "Torn", which was a top ten hit in many countries. She followed this with nine further UK top 30 hits, including "Shiver". "Shiver" was taken from Imbruglia's 2005 album, "Counting Down the Days" which reached number one on the UK album charts.
8. The new doctor interprets my shiver as a symptom and announces his diagnosis. Wait a minute, he's a vet, not a doctor and he thinks I'm suffering from which track from Radiohead's "Hail to the Thief" (2003) album?

Answer: Myxomatosis

"Hail To The Thief" followed the trend started by the band's "OK Computer" album in 1997 and went top ten in the album charts of many countries, hitting the top spot in UK, Canada and France. It became the fifth consecutive Radiohead album to be nominated for a Grammy award, although it was beaten to the Best Alternative Music Album award by "Elephant" from White Stripes.

The lead single from the album, "There, There" (2003) was a number one in Canada and a top five hit in UK, while the track "Myxomatosis" dealt with the band's relationship with critics and the media.
9. Obviously that guy had no clue, so I find a new doctor and present my final symptom. I have double vision, which is also the title of a 1978 album by which band?

Answer: Foreigner

"Double Vision" (1978) was Foreigner's second album and contained hit singles in the form of the title track and "Hot Blooded", both of which went top ten in Canada and USA on the Billboard Hot 100. "Double Vision" was the last Foreigner album to feature original bassist, Ed Gagliardi and up to 2019, was the only album by the band to feature an instrumental track, "Tramontane", which was the B side of the "Hot Blooded" single.
10. Finally I get a diagnosis that I'm happy with. I have mystery disease. Which band fronted by Andrew VanWyngarden recorded a track called "Mystery Disease" on their 2013 eponymous album?

Answer: MGMT

"MGMT" was the third album by the band and contained the hit single "Your Life Is A Lie". There are many theories about the meaning behind the track, "Mystery Disease" including it being about the effects of drugs, about life as a millennial or comparing the seven deadly sins to a widespread illness.
