The Drifters had a number five hit on the US pop chart with "Up On The Roof" in 1963. It failed to chart in the UK. Rudy Lewis was lead singer on this hit. The song was written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King; Carole King also played piano on the record.

Well, which Drifters are we talking about? There have been over 70 different individuals in various configurations of The Drifters. There has been more than one Drifters group at the same time. The Drifters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 (the same year as The Beatles). Two different Drifters groups have been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. The Original Drifters (formed with Clyde McPhatter in 1953) were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1998. Ben E. King & The Drifters were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall Of Fame in 2000.

"At The Club" was a number 43 hit on the US pop chart in 1965. It reached number 35 on the UK chart the same year. It reached number three as a double A-side with "Saturday Night At The Movies" on the UK chart in 1972.
"Down On The Beach Tonight" did not chart in the US. It reached number seven on the UK chart in 1974.
"Under The Boardwalk" was a number four hit on the US pop chart in 1964. It reached number 45 on the UK chart the same year.

"She Came in through the Bathroom Window" was track number seven on side two of The Beatles album "Abbey Road". The album was number one for 17 weeks on the UK album chart in 1969/70. It was number one for 11 weeks on the US album chart in 1969/1970.

The track was written by Lennon/McCartney and the lead singer was Paul McCartney. By 1980 it was the first Beatles album to sell over 10,000,000 copies worldwide. It is one of, if not the, most famous album covers of all time, the shot was taken by photographer Ian Macmillan. The decision to use it without the group's name or album title on the front cover was that of Abbey Road Studio's creative director at the time, John Kosh. Thanks guys!

Another US country chart number one hit for Faron Young, "It's Four In The Morning" reached number 92 on the US pop chart in 1972. It reached number three and was his only hit on the UK chart the same year. He died following a self inflicted gunshot while suffering from emphysema in 1996.

What were they thinking putting it on the B-side; "In My Room" is one of The Beach Boys' best songs ever.

Aretha Franklin had a number six hit on the US pop chart with "The House That Jack Built" in 1968. It did not chart in the UK.

"In The Middle of the House" was a number 20 hit for Rusty Draper on the US pop chart in 1956. It did not chart in the UK. In the UK Alma Cogan had a number 20 hit, Australian Jimmy Parkinson had a number 20 hit and The Johnston Brothers had a number 27 hit with the song, all in 1956. None of them charted in the US.
