Elvis seemed to like the word trouble having later recorded another song titled "T-R-O-U-B-L-E". The song was originally written by Jerry Chestnut and later also covered by country music singer Travis Tritt.

"I Knew You Were Trouble" was co-written by Swift along with Max Martin and Shellback and featured on her album "Red". Taylor has revealed in interviews that the song about a good girl falling for a bad boy and ending up with heartbreak was based on one of her own relationships leading the media to speculate if it was targeted at ex boyfriends John Mayer or Harry Styles.

While Selena Gomez has covered this song, she was not the original writer.
