Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Madres y padres.

Answer: The Mamas and the Papas

The Mamas and the Papas were formed in 1965 with four musicians: John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips. John, who had been in the band The Journeymen, was married to Michelle. Cass, often fondly referred to as Mama Cass, had a powerful, distinctive voice with an extensive range.

She provided the lead vocality for many of the band's major hits, including "California Dreamin'", "Monday, Monday", and "Words of Love".
2. Crédito agua clara renacimiento

Answer: Creedence Clearwater Revival

Bit of a stretch here, as the band added an extra "e" to the word "creedence." Creedence Clearwater Revival, sometimes called just Creedence or CCR, had a swamp-rock sound, but the band was formed in El Cerrito, not far from San Francisco. The band was made up of Stu Cook, Doug Clifford, and brothers John and Tom Fogerty.
3. Agradecida muerto

Answer: The Grateful Dead

Few bands had as dedicated a following as The Grateful Dead; the fans were called Deadheads and would follow the band on tour. Visit The Grateful Dead archive by going to the library at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
4. Amoroso cucharada

Answer: The Lovin' Spoonful

The Lovin' Spoonful, a New York-created band, had major hits in the 1960s with songs such as "Summer in the City", "Do You Believe In Magic", "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?", and "Daydream". In 2000, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
5. Corriente alterna corriente continua

Answer: AC/DC

Corriente alterna corriente continue translates roughly to alternating current direct current. AC/DC was formed in Sydney in 1973 by Malcolm and Angus Young, brothers born in Scotland who later emigrated to Australia. Describing themselves simply as rock-n-rollers, the band has had such hits as "Back in Black", "Let There Be Rock", "Dirty Deeds" and "For Those About to Rock".
6. Mermelada de perlas

Answer: Pearl Jam

Take young guys with talent, give them a lot of guitars, put them in grungy clothing, settle them in Seattle and you've got Pearl Jam. Founding members include Jeff Ament on bass guitar, Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Mike McCready on lead guitar, Matt Cameron on drums, and Eddie Vedder, the lead singer who also plays guitar.

The band has won many awards, including American Music Awards, Grammies, and MTV Music Video Awards.
7. Rompiendo calabazas

Answer: Smashing Pumpkins

Billy Corgan and other members of the Smashing Pumpkins have said they chose that name to let people know they didn't take themselves too seriously. They've named a wide range of bands as their inspiration, from Black Sabbath to the Cure.
8. Cabezas parlantes

Answer: Talking Heads

Talking Heads was founded by New York art students David Byrne, Jerry Harrison, Chris Frantz, and Tina Weymouth. "Talking Heads: 77," their first album, sported the hit "Psycho Killer." In 1986, they were nominated for a handful of MTV Video Awards, including Video of the Year, Best Concept Video, and Viewer's Choice.
9. Chicos de la playa

Answer: The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys, a homegrown southern California band, defined the California sound and themes of surfing, cruising, and young love. In 2001, they were granted the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards, along with Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Marley, and The Who.
10. Piedras rodantes

Answer: The Rolling Stones
