Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "You think you lost your love Well I saw her yesterday"?

Answer: It's you she's thinking of, and she told me what to say

From "She Loves You," the 1963 single that probably propelled the Beatles farther and faster than any other piece they did. A clip of the group singing the song was played on the Jack Paar show in January 1963 and was the first footage of them widely shown in the US.

"She Loves You" was the first Beatles single to be credited to "Lennon/McCartney." Previously, the order had been reversed. Although Paul sang the "She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah" chorus on the original version, it is John, not Paul, who sings those words when a snippet of the song appears at the end of 1967's "All You Need is Love."
2. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "I don't wanna sound complainin' But you know there's always rain in my heart (in my heart) I do all the pleasin' with you"?

Answer: It's so hard to reason, with you, oh yeah, why do you make me blue

From "Please Please Me," one of the first singles recorded using Ringo Starr as drummer, just after he'd replaced Pete Best. George Martin, the band's producer told them "Gentlemen, you've just recorded your first Number One record" upon completion of the session. The song actually peaked at number two on the British charts.
3. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "As I write this letter, Send my love to you"?

Answer: Remember that I'll always, be in love with you

"P.S. I Love You" was recorded in 1962 and released as the "B" side of "Love Me Do," the group's first single. The released version has new drummer Ringo Starr playing the maracas, while session drummer Andy White plays the actual drums.
4. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "Tell me that you love me baby, Like no other can"?

Answer: Love you like no other baby, like no other can

"I Wanna Be Your Man" was a 1963 song written by John and Paul and performed by Ringo. The Beatles passed the song to the Rolling Stones who loved it so much that they too released it as their second single, making it one of the few songs recorded by both groups ("Money (That's What I Want)" being the other notable example).

The Stones' delight with the song also pushed Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to begin writing all their songs as well, a move that began that group's ascent to greatness.
5. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "Ev'ry night the tears come down from my eyes"?

Answer: Ev'ry day I've done nothing but cry

From "It Won't Be Long," the opening track of "With the Beatles," their second British album. John Lennon's vocal was double-tracked in the recording, making for a distinctive sound. Supposedly, this song was the first one Neil Young ever performed in public, at a performance in his high school.
6. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "So please listen to me if you want to stay mine I can't help this feeling I'll go out of my mind You know I'll let you down and leave you flat"?

Answer: Because I told you before, oh, you can't do that

"You Can't Do That" was recorded for use in the film "A Hard Day's Night," but didn't make it to the final edit. The song did make it to the film soundtrack however, and was released as the B side of "Can't Buy Me Love." This is the first Beatles song on which George plays a 12-string guitar.
7. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "Bright are the stars that shine Dark is the sky"?

Answer: I know this love of mine, will never die

Written for Jane Asher, Paul McCartney's girlfriend through most of the 1960s, "And I Love Her" was originally recorded much more up-tempo, before the sparse and beautiful version that became famous was made. This song is from the "A Hard Day's Night" soundtrack and album.
8. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "Say you don't need no diamond ring and I'll be satisfied"?

Answer: Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can't buy

"Can't Buy Me Love" was used as the soundtrack for a memorable chase scene in the "A Hard Day's Night" movie. It also was one of the Beatles songs (along with "Twist and Shout," "She Loves You," "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "Please Please Me") to occupy the top five spots of the April 4, 1964 Billboard singles chart.
9. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "Someday when we're dreaming Deep in love, not a lot to say"?

Answer: Then we will remember the things we said today

"Things We Said Today" was a relatively dark and realistic song written by Paul to explain the "baggage" that came with being romantically involved with a Beatle. He was traveling and touring extensively, and working on new film and music projects, and the song's message was that while apart, he and his girlfriend would just have to remember each other and their memories from their rare times together.
10. What's the next line of this Beatles lyric: "You know I work all day To get you money to buy you things"?

Answer: And it's worth it just to hear you say you're going to give me everything

"A Hard Day's Night" was the name of the Beatles' highly-successful single, from an even more successful album, and and even more successful debut film from the group. The title comes from a "Ringoism" in which the drummer was trying to describe a typically long workday for the early Beatles, entering the studio in early morning and not leaving until the darkest evening hours.
