Gerry Rafferty had a lot of success with "Baker Street", which he also wrote. It was a number one hit in Australia and Canada, number three in the UK and number two in the US. The song was named after Baker Street in London. The song has been covered many times by artists such as Waylon Jennings, Rick Springfield, Maynard Ferguson, Chicago and the London Symphony Orchestra, among others. Gerry Rafferty was born in 1947 in Scotland and died in January 2011 of liver failure.
