"Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" reached Number Five on the US charts and was the first single from his "Introducing Lobo" album. Lobo followed up with the Top Ten singles "Don't Expect Me to Be Your Friend" and "I'd Love You to Want Me". His last US Top Forty single was "Where Were You When I Was Falling in Love" (1979).

The song was covered by several groups including The Rolling Stones and The Kingsmen.
Thomas was 84 when he passed in 2001.
