Billy J. Kramer was an old pal from the Cavern days, a Parlophone stablemate, and managed by Brian Epstein. The song was the B-side of 'Do You Want Want To Know A Secret?', another Lennon/McCartney song they recorded.

Beatle versions of these songs are only available on bootlegs.
