The Swan Song record label was set up in 1974 after Led Zeppelin's contract with Atlantic records came to an end in 1973. The label finished operations in 1983 and now only exists to reissue previously released material.

Bad Company's eponymous album "Bad Company" was the first album released on Led Zeppelin's Swan Song record label. It was recorded at Headley Grange recording venue, England, in November 1973. Its track list included the singles "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" and "Movin' On".

Dave Edmunds was born on the 15th April 1944 in Cardiff, Wales and was the lead vocalist of the band Rockpile. He released several solo albums on the Swan Song label including "Get It" (1977), "Tracks on Wax 4" (1978) and "Repeat When Necessary" (1979).

The Pretty Things are an English rock group that was formed in London in 1963. They were one of the first bands to appear on the Swan Song label with their album "Silk Torpedo". It was their seventh album.

Maggie Bell was born in the Maryhill area of Glasgow in 1945. The song "No Mean City" which was written by Mike Moran was the theme tune for the gritty crime series "Taggart" which was set in Glasgow. Maggie actually appeared in one episode of the series as a gypsy fortune teller who was killed off near the beginning of the story.

Bobby Whitlock was born in Memphis, Tennessee in March 1948. He was a member of the band Derek and the Dominos alongside Eric Clapton between 1970 and 1971. Their studio album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" released in 1970 received critical acclaim and has remained one of the best rock albums ever produced although on its initial release it was a commercial flop.

The band Sad Cafe was formed in Manchester in 1976. Paul Young was the lead singer, Ian Wilson the guitarist, Vic Emerson the keyboard player and Tony Cresswell the drummer. Additionally the other band members were Ashley Mumford as lead guitarist and John Stimpson as the bass player. Paul Young formed Sad Cafe in 1976 and recorded with them until 1989.

He died prematurely at the age of 53 of a sudden heart attack.

Raymond "Boz" Burrell was born in Lincolnshire, England in 1946. He joined the band King Crimson in 1971 and was one of the founding members of the band Bad Company which was formed in 1973. Paul Rodgers was the vocalist, Simon Kirke the drummer and Mick Ralphs the guitarist. Boz Burrell died suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 60 while rehearsing in Spain.

Led Zeppelin had previously been signed to the Atlantic record label and when their five year contract expired they launched their own label Swan Song. The label finished its operations in 1983 due to the break up of Led Zeppelin following the death of their drummer John Bonham.
