Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the band that had a number 3 hit in December 1982 with "The Story of the Blues"?

Answer: Wah!

This is probably THE most consistently erroneous answer given in the history of music. I expect a lot of players went for "Mighty Wah!" here, but they never acquired the "Mighty" part of their name until June 1984, when they had a comeback hit called, suitably, "Come Back". So it was purely "Wah!" for this Scouse band's debut hit.
2. "Walk This Way" , originally an Aerosmith hit, was a number 8 hit in 1986 for whom?

Answer: Run-DMC

Originally an Aerosmith track, the single obviously DID feature Steven Tyler and co, but the band was NOT credited on the single.
3. What is Fatboy Slim's real first name?

Answer: Quentin

Yes, he was called Norman Cook in the Housemartins, but he was born as Quentin!
4. "World In Motion" was a number one hit in 1990. Who was it credited to?

Answer: Englandneworder

Probably the best football record ever released, this was the official song for the England World Cup Squad in "Italia '90". However, it couldn't be credited as such, as only six of the squad were featured on it.
5. What was the correct title of Dead Or Alive's 1985 chart topper?

Answer: You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)

A bit of a mouthful admittedly, this was also the first number one for the phenomenally successful songwriting and production trio of Stock, Aitken, and Waterman.
6. What was Led Zeppelin's only UK hit single in the 20th century?

Answer: Whole Lotta Love

Oh yes they DID have one. Rather belatedly admittedly, but "Whole Lotta Love" reached number 21 in September 1997.

With the advent of digital downloads being eligible to chart, "Stairway To Heaven" has now also reached the UK Top 40 as the band's entire back catalogue has been made available.
7. What was the correct name of the band who had four number ones in the early seventies with songs such as "Metal Guru" and "Hot Love"?

Answer: T. Rex

Originally called "Tyrannosaurus Rex" (for their first three hit singles), the band was shortened to "T. Rex" during their most successful period, and only became known regularly known as "Marc Bolan and T. Rex" way after the charismatic singer's tragic death in 1977.
8. True or false: All members of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd were killed in a plane crash.

Answer: False

Only singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines perished in the disaster.
9. In which country was George Michael born?

Answer: England

This international chart giant may have been given the name "Georgios Panayiotou" in 1963, but he was born in London.
10. To whom was the 1983 hit single "White Lines (Don't Don't Do It)" credited?

Answer: Grandmaster and Melle Mel

No Furious Five on this occasion. You'd think everyone would know this one by now, seeing as it has spent a total of 46 weeks on the UK charts on 4 separate visits!
