"Wake Up Little Susie" was written and released in 1957. My, how times have changed.

As an aside: Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton was the first person to record the hit song "Hound Dog" (1952). Elvis Presley recorded it in 1956. This bit of information has nothing to do sleeping or waking up, but I think it is interesting.
2. This band asks to be awakened when September ends.

Answer: Green Day

The song was written as a memorial to lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong's, father, who died of cancer when Billie was just ten.
