"Strange Brew" was the first single released from the classic Cream album "Disraeli Gears". Featuring Eric Clapton on lead vocals, the song peaked at number 17 on the UK music charts in June, 1967. While failing to crack the US Top 40, the song nonetheless has become a staple on classic rock radio stations.

Australian Rick Springfield had a string of hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s, most notably "Jessie's Girl", for which he earned a Grammy award. Rick also appeared in several television shows including a regular role on the American soap opera "General Hospital". Actors Jack Wagner, Patrick Swayze, and Don Johnson each had a hit song in the 1980s as well but not with "Don't Talk To Strangers".

Based on a poem by schoolteacher Abel Meeropol, "Strange Fruit" exposed rampant racism in the U.S., and railed against the crime of lynching African-Americans: "Southern trees bear a strange fruit/blood on the leaves and blood at the root/Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze/Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees" Holiday's recording of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1978.

"I'm No Stranger To The Rain" was a number one single for Whitley in America and Canada. Full of other weather metaphors, the song details a man's struggle to make it through life. Keith Whitley's life was tragically cut short by alcoholism, dying in 1989 at the peak of his popularity. Though brief, his career and style influenced many later Country singers.

"Strange Magic", from the ELO album "Face The Music". It was a Top 40 hit in Canada, France, the UK and the United States. Group co-founder Jeff Lynne would later be a member of The Traveling Wilburys as well as a record producer for friends like former Beatle George Harrison.

Firefall formed in 1974 and had a string of hits over the next seven years. "Strange Way" reached number eleven on the U.S. Billboard charts in 1978. As of 2011 the band were still touring and performing on the "oldies" circuit.

Sung by a man that many considered a bit strange in his own right, Jim Morrison and The Doors had a U.S. Billboard Chart hit with "People Are Strange". Morrison would die under strange and mysterious circumstances in July, 1971 in France. Some even claim that Morrison faked his death to escape fame and pending jail time in the U.S.

There was no autopsy performed by French authorities and very few people saw the body before burial.
