Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "White Lies" was a number one hit for DJ Paul van Dyk on the US Billboard Hot Dance singles chart in 2007. The song features which Pussycat Dolls member?

Answer: Jessica Sutta

"White Lies" was released as a single from Paul's album "In Between". The song also reached number three on both the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and the US Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart. Paul is one of the most accomplished DJs in the world and was named the number one DJ in the world in both 2005 and 2006. "White Lies" also found success in Europe but never as high as what it found in the US dance scene.

Jessica Sutta has the only vocals in the song and she sings only the song's title. She recorded the song while on hiatus from the Pussycat Dolls in 2007. The collaboration earned praise for both her and Paul.

2. A major hit for The Rolling Stones was "Get Off of My Cloud", which was written to reflect the band's reaction to their previous, even bigger, hit. What was the name of their prior hit?

Answer: (I Can't Get No ) Satisfaction

While all options were hits for the Rolling Stones the only hit that was prior to "Get Off Of My Cloud" was "Can't Get No Satisfaction". The latter was the Rolling Stones' first US number one hit. It reached number one in July 1965 but did not reach that position until September 1965 as the song was considered too explicit for commercial radio. "Get Off Of My Cloud" was the response to the mega-success of the previous record. The song tells of their reaction to their increased levels of fame and their aversion to the requirement to follow up with another big hit. The single hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic in November 1965.

3. Burt Reynolds was in "White Lightning" in 1973 but which alternative band was "Crying Lightning" in 2009?

Answer: Arctic Monkeys

This was the single that the band released to launch their third studio album "Humbug" in 2009. The initial playing of the track was on Radio 1 on the "Zane Lowe" show and the band immediately made it available to be downloaded on iTunes. Band leader Alex Turner, explained that they did this as a means of preventing piracy of the tune. A month later the physical single was released and it debuted on the UK charts at number twelve purely on the strength of its download sales.

7. For their 1981 album "Pleasant Dreams", which US punk rock band produced the lament "The KKK Took My Baby Away?"

Answer: The Ramones

The link to our colour theme is the KKK (Klu Klux Klan), a white supremacist organisation in the United States. There have been a number of stories put forward as to the inspiration behind this track and all of them seem to come with a grain of salt. The most popular of these legends is that it was written by Joey Ramone after Johnny (Ramone) had stolen his then girlfriend Linda. The album was the band's sixth studio release and it saw Warner Bros. Records hire Graham Gouldman to try and give the release a more commercially viable sound. The band was dead set against this - in the words of Joey Ramone "The record company told us the album would bomb if we didn't use Graham Gouldman, so we worked with Graham... and the album bombed anyway."

Answer: Herman's Hermits

The milkman delivered bottles of the white stuff early in the morning to doorsteps throughout the UK. Notes were left to amend the orders. "No Milk Today" was one such note that led to this song being penned imagining why. The milk order needed reducing as "my love has gone away" following a breakup.
