Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Native American poet. Wrote "A Snake In Her Mouth" in 1997.

Answer: nila northSun

northSun is a Shoshone poet and daughter of Adam Fortunate Eagle, who coordinated the 1969-1971 Occupation of Alcatraz by "Indians of All Tribes."
northSun received plaudits right from the off, with her first volume of poetry, "Diet Pepsi And Nacho Cheese" (1977) being well received and the gritty realism of her writing about "life on the rez" attracted many fans among non Native American readers.
northSun is often compared to Muscogee (Creek) Nation poet, Joy Harjo, which is high praise indeed, and my personal favourites my northSun are "99 things to do before you die" and "stupid questions".
2. Professional road racing cyclist. Winner of The Tour of Flanders in 2011.

Answer: Nick Nuyens

Nuyens was a successful Belgian cyclist for many years, winning the Paris-Brussels in 2004, the Omloop Het Volk race in 2005 and the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne in 2006, all riding for Deceuninck-Quick-Step. He also won the 2005 Tour of Britain, placing first in two of the stages but the highlight of his career was his Tour of Flanders win riding for Saxo Bank-SunGard.
3. Former model, played Tom Wingo in "The Prince Of Tides" in 1991.

Answer: Nick Nolte

Nolte was a model in the early 1970s and appeared in an advertisement for H.I.S. western wear, wearing jeans that "turn a dude into a stud". As an actor he has starred in many films alongside some celebrated co-stars, including Katharine Hepburn in "Grace Quigley" (1985), Robert De Niro in "Cape Fear" (1991), Don Cheadle in "Hotel Rwanda" (2004) and Barbra Streisand in "The Prince Of Tides", a role for which he was nominated for an Oscar, but lost out to Anthony Hopkins for his portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in "The Silence Of The Lambs" (1991).
4. Australian novelist, debuted with "The Lambing Flat" in 2003.

Answer: Nerida Newton

Newton spent ten years travelling the world, and on her return to Australia felt estranged from her homeland, which led to her debut novel. "The Lambing Flat" tells of a young Chinese man, travelling to Australia in the 1860s to work in the gold fields, only to get caught up in the country's infamous Lambing Flat riots, in which the Chinese were driven out of gold mining.
Newton followed this novel with the equally good, "Death Of A Whaler" in 2006.

Answer: Nathaniel Niles

Niles and Weld won the pairs championships every year between 1918 and 1927, during which time he also won the men's singles championships three times. As if that wasn't enough, Niles was also an accomplished tennis player, winning the 1908 U.S. mixed doubles championships with partner Edith Rotch and placing second in the 1917 men's singles event.

To UK audiences of a certain age, Newman will always be known for advertising Fairy Liquid washing up liquid on TV, in which one of the commercials also starred a four year old Leslie Ash, many years before her role in TV comedy, "Men Behaving Badly" (1992-1997).
