Stanley Ann Dunham held a Ph.D in anthropology, and spent much of her career in Asia. Sadly, she died of cancer in 1995, aged just 52.

Born Francis Albert, Frank was born in 1915. His first break into the entertainment industry came in 1935 when the Hoboken Four, of which he was a member, won a talent show and got a six month tour contract for their prize.

Nelson Mandela's childhood name was Rolihlahla, and his family were royalty in their native tribal lands in South Africa. He was just nine years old when his father died of tuberculosis. After the death of Pierre in an accident when their daughters were still very young, she continued their work alone and was the first woman to become a professor at the Sorbonne in Paris.
