Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Former England footballer. Managed Manchester City 2002-2005.

Answer: Kevin Keegan

Although Keegan played in Germany and Australia, he is best remembered for his playing career at Anfield, scoring goals for Liverpool, with whom he won the FA Cup, European Cup, UEFA Cup twice and League Championship three times in a six year spell at the club.

As a manager, he had two spells at Newcastle United and also managed Fulham and the England national side with whom he masterminded a 1-0 win over Germany in 2000, the first time England had beat them since 1966.
2. German winner of two gold medals at the 1991 World Athletic Championships.

Answer: Katrin Krabbe

Krabbe ran for East Germany at the 1990 European Championships and took gold in both the 100 and 200 metres events. By the time the 1991 World Championships came around, Germany was unified but that was no matter to Krabbe, who beat a much stronger field than was at the Euros to once again win the 100 and 200 metres.
3. American socialite and reality TV star. Mother to North, Saint and Chicago.

Answer: Kim Kardashian

Kardashian is the style icon that many young people aspire to emulate. She is admired by them for her career as a business woman, actress and philanthropist, while the fact that she first found fame by allowing a sex tape of her and her ex boyfriend to be released often seems to be overlooked. Without the tape of her and rapper Ray J, would her Dash clothing line or the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" TV show have been as successful? I wonder.
4. American violist, winner of a 2013 Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Solo.

Answer: Kim Kashkashian

Kashkashian is of Armenian descent and is an incredibly talented violist, having played on many albums and commissioned several new works for the viola. In 1985, she recorded Mozart's "Divertimento for String Trio" with celebrated musicians, violinist Gidon Kremer and cellist Yo-Yo Ma and in 2019 was announced as one of the acts to play the annual Big Ears Festival, alongside artists such as Spiritualized, Bela Fleck and Richard Thompson.
5. Actress nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in "Pride And Prejudice" (2005).

Answer: Keira Knightley

Knightly made her movie debut aged ten in 1995, in the film "Innocent Lies" starring Adrian Dunbar and Joanna Lumley. Just four years later, she was cast in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (1999) and then won her breakthrough role in 2002, playing Jules in "Bend It Like Beckham".

International recognition soon followed when she first played Elizabeth Swann in 2003s "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and since then she has gone on to be one of the hottest Hollywood actresses, displaying her talents in a huge variety of roles.
6. NASCAR driver, winner of the Brickyard 400 in 2017.

Answer: Kasey Kahne

Kahne had an impressive career between being named NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Rookie of the Year in 2004 and his retirement in 2018. During that time he notched up 27 pole positions and 18 wins in the Cup Series, including three Coca-Cola 600 wins in addition to his Brickyard 400.

In 2005, Kahne formed Kasey Kahne Racing, a team which competes in the World of Outlaws dirt track racing series.
7. Double Golden Raspberry nominee in 1981 for "Heaven's Gate" (1980) and "Rollover" (1981).

Answer: Kris Kristofferson

Kristofferson was struggling to make ends meet in Nashville, until Johnny Cash recorded his song "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" (1970) and had a Billboard Country chart number one with it. Although it had been recorded by Ray Stevens in 1969, the success of the Cash's version was enough for Kristofferson to win Songwriter of the Year at the Country Music Awards, paving the way for songs such as "Help Me Make It Through the Night" and "Me and Bobby McGee", both written before "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", to become hits.

In movies, Kristofferson's career took off when he was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer in 1973 for his role in "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" (1973) and the highpoint of his film career was winning a Golden Globe for his role in "A Star Is Born " in 1976.
8. American goalkeeper who played for Rayo Vallecano in Spain and Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany.

Answer: Kasey Keller

Keller was signed by Millwall after a disappointing 1990 World Cup where he didn't play and USA didn't win a single game. Here he soon became their first choice goalkeeper, and his displays between the sticks convinced Leicester City to purchase him in 1996 and he is still a fan favourite at the club. Following Leicester he played for Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Fulham in England, before ending his career at Seattle Sounders in his native USA.
9. Oscar winner for "A Fish Called Wanda" in 1988 who played Belle's father Maurice in "Beauty And The Beast" (2017).

Answer: Kevin Kline

Kline is a very talented actor, known for his roles in movies such as "Cry Freedom" (1987), "Dave" (1993) and "The Ice Storm" (1997), but is also an accomplished voice actor, responsible for Calvin Fischoeder, landlord to Bob Belcher in animated TV show "Bob's Burgers", as well as Captain Phoebus, who falls in love with Esmeralda (Demi Moore) in Disney's 1996 version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
10. American novelist. Author of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" (1962).

Answer: Ken Kesey

Kesey is most famous for "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" but wrote several other novels. of which "Sometimes a Great Notion" (1964) is considered by many literary critics to be his finest work. Both novels were made into movies, with "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) nominated for nine Oscars and winning five, while "Sometimes a Great Notion" was renamed "Never Give An Inch" for the 1970 movie and received two Oscar nominations, failing to win either.
