Answer: Farming

When God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden for their disobedience, he cursed Adam and stated that he would be forced to toil the land to earn his food (Genesis 3:17). Adam's oldest son Cain was also a farmer and ended up becoming the first man to commit murder when he killed his younger brother, Abel in a fit of jealousy (Genesis 4: 1-10).

Answer: Isaiah

Isaiah, whose name means 'the salvation of the Lord', is one of the major prophets of the Old Testament. In the book of Isaiah, the prophet tries to show the people the error of their ways and urges them to turn back to God. Isaiah is also the one to predict the birth of the Messiah.

The ensuing verse contains many beautiful titles to describe the Messiah - Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

Ehud was the second judge of Israel after Othniel. The fact that Ehud was left-handed helped him to successfully conceal a weapon while visiting the Moabite king, Eglon. Ehud was thus able to kill the king enabling the Israelites to invade Moab (Judges 3:12-30).

Answer: Rahab

Rahab was a prostitute who lived in Jericho before the region was occupied by the Israelities. When Joshua sent two spies to take the lay of the land and help them prepare to attack the city, Rahab offered them shelter in exchange for immunity for herself and her family after the Israelites captured the city (Joshua 2: 1-24).

Answer: Midwives

In the book of Exodus, feeling threatened by the ever increasing Hebrew population, Pharaoh instructs all the midwives to kill the male infants born to Hebrew women. Shiphrah and Puah showed great courage by disobeying the king and allowing the little boys to live.

When questioned by Pharaoh, they wisely replied that the Hebrew woman being stronger than Egyptian women, the children were already born by the time the midwives reached (Exodus 1:12-22).
8. Which of these men was *not* a prophet?

Answer: Esau

Esau was the older son of Isaac and Rebekah and the twin of Jacob. He is described in the Bible as being a hunter. Esau was tricked out of his birthright by Jacob with the encouragement of their mother, Rebekah.

The other three men were prophets with Elisha being the successor of Elijah.
9. Better known for building an ark, which of these was the first man to plant a vineyard?

Answer: Noah

Genesis 9: 20-21 gives an account of Noah cultivating the land after the flood waters had receded. He then goes on to plant a vineyard. When Noah was lying drunk and naked in his tent, his son Ham saw him and instead of covering his father, went and told his other brothers about it. As a result, Noah cursed Ham's son, Canaan.

Answer: Fishermen

Peter and Andrew were brothers living in the village of Bethsaida on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. The brothers worked as fishermen and according to the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus was walking along the shore when he saw the two brothers fishing and called them to follow Him promising to make them 'fishers of men' (Matthew 4:19).
