Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Cain Kills Abel
Answer: Genesis
Genesis 4:8 states, "And Cain talked with Abel, his brother, and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and slew him." Cain and Abel were brothers who offered sacrifices to God. God rejected Cain's sacrifice but accepted Abel's. This made Cain angry, and he killed his brother, leading to the first murder in the Bible.
2. Moses Kills Egyptian
Answer: Exodus
Exodus 2:12 states "And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian and hid him in the sand." Moses was raised to be a prince of Egypt, but he knew the slaves were his relatives. When he saw a slave being mistreated, he killed the man responsible. When Moses found out that people knew what he did, he ran away from Egypt.
3. Samson Kills Philistines
Answer: Judges
Judges 16:29-30 states, "And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand and of the pillar with his left. And Samson said, 'Let me die with the Philistines.' And he bowed himself with all his might, and the house fell upon the lords and upon the people that were therein, so the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life." Samson continually outsmarted the Philistines until they sent Delilah to romance Samson.
She asked him where his strength came from. When he said it was from his hair and his hair was cut, the Philistines were able to capture him. When he was in the building with thousands of Philistines, he prayed that his strength would return so he could bring down the building, and he pushed over the pillars, causing the building to fall on everyone inside.
4. David Kills Goliath
Answer: I Samuel
I Samuel 17:49 states, "And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead, and he fell upon his face to the earth." Israel had many battles against the Philistines over the years.
This time their giant, Goliath, wanted to fight the greatest warrior from Israel. They didn't know a boy would be the greatest warrior.
5. Fish Swallows Man
Answer: Jonah
Jonah was told by God to preach to Nineveh, but Jonah went in the opposite direction until the storm hit and the crew threw him overboard. Jonah 1:17 states, "Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights." Jonah came out of the fish and went to Nineveh.
He told them to repent, and they did. Jonah 3:10 states, "And God saw their works that they turned from their evil way, and God repented of the evil that He had said that He would do unto them, and He did it not."
6. Satan Speaks With God
Answer: Job
Satan told God that people were evil and should be destroyed. God said that Job was a good man. Satan replied that Job was only good because God had rewarded him with wealth and children. Satan said that Job would turn against God if everything was taken away, so God let Satan cause disasters and violence against Job's children, livestock, and possessions.
In Job 1:21 Job said, "Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither. The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed by the name of the Lord." Job 1:22 states "In all this, Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly." Then Job was struck with boils and had a long conversation with his friends.
7. Beast Rises Out Of The Sea
Answer: Revelation
Revelation describes wild visions about the history of the world and the future of God's people. Revelation 13:1 states, "And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy." This sounds like it could be a scene from a Godzilla movie. Most scholars think the ten horns were ten kings or kingdoms which turned or will turn against God's people.
8. Jericho Gets Attacked
Answer: Joshua
When Israel began to take over the Promised Land, as God had commanded, they fought battles with the people already living there. One of these battles was against the walled city of Jericho. Joshua 6:20 states, "So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets, and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city."
9. Fingers Write on Wall
Answer: Daniel
Each chapter of Daniel told a different story or vision which happened to someone. The people in the palace were using holy items stolen from the temple in Jerusalem for a wild party. Fingers from a man's hand appeared and wrote on the wall. They saw the writing on the wall and asked Daniel what it meant. Daniel told them their kingdom would soon end. Daniel 5:30 states, "In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain."
10. Jerusalem Temple To Be Rebuilt
Answer: Ezra
Ezra 6:3 states, "In the first year of Cyrus the king, the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, 'Let the house be built, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid, the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breath thereof threescore cubits.'" The book of Ezra described the problems and work that went into rebuilding the temple.
