Answer: Colorado Avalanche
The Avs bested the Florida Panthers 4-0 in the finals. It was the first finals appearance for both teams. Expansion team Florida was in just its third season in the league.
2. 1997
Answer: Detroit Red Wings
Scotty Bowman returned to the top of the heap. Winning a Stanley Cup with his third different team. The Wings swept the Flyers 4-0 to win the Cup. For the Red Wings, it was the first championship since 1955.
3. 1998

After snapping a 52-year Cupless streak the year before, the Red Wings decided they didn't want to wait. For the second time in as many years, they won the cup with a sweep, this time over the Washington Capitals.
4. 1999
Answer: Dallas Stars
After losing two finals during its time in Minnesota (Minnesota North Stars 1967-1993), the team relocated to Dallas, dropped "North" from the name, and finally won a championship. They won the title in 6 games over the Buffalo Sabres. Brett Hull scored the series-winning goal.
5. 2000
Answer: New Jersey Devils
The Stars returned to the finals, but a repeat wasn't on the cards. The Devils won the series in six games. It was the second title in franchise history for New Jersey (their first was in 1995).
6. 2001
Answer: Colorado Avalanche
The Avs improved to 2-0 in the Finals, and beat the New Jersey Devils for their first ever Finals loss. The series went to 7 games. Alex Tanguay hit the game-winner in the deciding game.
7. 2002

Scotty Bowman won the last of his 9 Stanely Cups as a coach with a 4-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. It was the first finals appearance for the Hurricanes. It was Boman's third title and fourth finals appearance with the Red Wings. It was his 13th finals appearance overall.

Named after the team from the movie, the Mighty Ducks made their Stanley Cup Finals debut. There wasn't any movie magic though as the team fell to the Devils in 7 games.
9. 2004
Answer: Tampa Bay Lightning
This was the third seven-game series in four years as the Stanley Cup Finals got more competitive than they had been in decades. Tampa Bay outlasted Calgary for its first-ever championship. Ruslan Fedotenko scored the series-winning goal.
10. 2005
Answer: No Champion
The entire 2004-05 NHL season was canceled due to a labor dispute with the players union and team owners. With the NHL controlling the Stanley Cup, it wasn't awarded for that year.
