Al Kaline entered the Baseball Hall of Fame (HOF) in 1980. Kaline was known as "Mr. Tiger" by baseball writers and players alike. Kaline was a model player getting 3,007 hits, 399 homers, and won 10 Gold Glove awards for his play in the outfield.

Thurmon Munson, the seven time All-Star catcher, played his ten year career with the Yankees. "Squatty Body", as he was affectionately known, was the 1970 American League Rookie of the Year and won the MVP in 1976. Munson was the first Yankee captain since Lou Gehrig, which was quite an honor. Tragically, Munson died August 2, 1979 while practicing landing his airplane.

Walter Johnson, known as "The Big Train", was known for his incredible side-arm delivered fast ball. Johnson fanned 3,508 batters over his brilliant career. Johnson was inducted into the HOF with Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner, and Babe Ruth. Speaking of the Babe, Johnson's final game was the same game that Ruth hit his then record setting 60th homer on September 30, 1927.

Ford won the Cy Young in 1961, was an eight time All-Star and holds several World Series records.

His ten wins and 94 strikeouts are both World Series records. He even pitched in 33 consecutive scoreless World Series innings. Whitey Ford joined the HOF in 1974.
