Answer: Reggie Jackson

Jackson made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Athletics in 1967, and followed them to Oakland the following year. He won two World Series titles with the A's (missing out on the 1972 title due to injury), before triumphing in another two with the New York Yankees.

His ability to conjure up home runs in postseason play led to the "Mr October" moniker. He served up five in the 1977 series, a Major League record.

Jenner of the USA set a world record of 8634 points in the 1976 Olympics, which took place in Montreal. After a brief stint as an actor, he forged a new career in auto racing with the International Auto Sports Association.

Answer: Jayhawks

The Univeristy of Kansas, based in Lawrence, are members of the Big 12 Conference. The Jayhawks are most famous for their men's basketball team, who won the NCAA national title in 1952, 1988, and 2008.

Answer: Michael Jordan

Jordan was born in Brooklyn in 1963, and attended UNC from 1981-84, winning the 1982 NCAA national title. Drafted by the Bulls in 1984, he won NBA titles in 1991, 1992 and 1993, before surprisingly retiring to play baseball. He had a brief spell with the class-AA Birmingham Barons, before making a comeback with the Bulls in 1995.

He proceeded to lead the Chicago team to a further three NBA titles from 1996-1998.

Jacobs was captain in both 1979 and 1981, losing heavily to the USA on both occasions. Jacklin took over for four successive matches, losing narrowly in the first in 1983, then winning the cup for Europe at The Belfry in 1985. The Europeans won again at Muirfield Village in '87, before retaining the cup after a drawn match in 1989. James was captain for just one match, at Brookline in 1999, when the USA won by a single point. Job was a journeyman player on the European tour between 1966 and 1983, failing to win a single tournament.

He never competed on a Ryder Cup team, nevermind captaining one.
6. "The Galveston Giant" was the nickname of which world heavweight boxing champion?

Answer: Jack Johnson

Johnson was born in Galveston, Texas, in 1878. He became the first African-American to win the world heavyweight title in 1908, defeating Tommy Burns in Sydney. He held the title until 1915, when Jess Willard knocked him out in the 26th round in Havana. He continued to box until 1938, but never regained the world crown.

Jacobs, from Arizona, won her first US title in 1932, defeating Carolin Babcock in the final. She defeatd Helen Wills Moody to retain the title in 1933, and went on to defeat Sarah Palfrey Cooke in the finals of both 1934 and 1935. Her sole Wimbledon success came at the expense of German woman Hilde Krahwinkel Sperling in 1936.

She had previously lost four Wimbledon finals to Wills Moody.

Jagr was selected by the Penguins in the 1990 NHL draft. He won Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992, becoming the youngest player to score a finals goal in the process. He was traded to the Washington Capitals in 2001, and then to the New York Rangers in 2004. In 2008, he returned to his homeland to see out his career with HC Kladno.

Juventus were formed in 1897, winning their first title in 1905. They have been consistently at or near the top of Italian football virtually ever since. Their greatest triumph, when they finally landed Europe's top trophy against Liverpool in 1985, was marred by violence on the terracing in Brussels, which led to the deaths of 39 spectators.

Their second triumph in this tournament, in 1996, was a happier affair, when they defeated Ajax in a penalty shootout in Rome.

Jurgensen, from North Carolina, played collegiate football with Duke between 1954 and 1956. He played at the positon of defensive back in 1954, helping the Blue Devils to an ACC title and an Orange Bowl triumph. He took over as starting QB in 1955, winning another conference crown.

He was drafted by the Eagles in 1957, winning the NFL title as back-up QB in 1960. He was traded to the Redskins in 1964, where he remained until 1974. He was selected to the Pro Bowl on five occasions throughout his career.
