Answer: Patriots

Atlanta won the coin toss. Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush performed the coin toss. The Falcons dominated most of the game with a 21-3 score at the half, and a 25 point lead in the third quarter.

The Patriots came back from the largest deficit in history to tie the game at 28 and force the first overtime in Super Bowl history. The Patriots won the overtime coin toss and elected to receive the kickoff. James White scored on a 2-yard run to win 34-28. The OT score was the first time the Patriots led in the game.
2. Which quarterback started his seventh Super Bowl?

Answer: Tom Brady

Coming into the game Brady had a 4-2 record in the Super Bowl. Before making his seventh start he already had most of the career passing records for the biggest game of the NFL season. Brady had previously been tied with Mike Lodish for most career Super Bowl games played.

3. What was the result of the first drive?

Answer: Patriots punt

Deion Jones, a rookie linebacker stopped a run on third down and a yard to go to force the Patriots punt. First down was an incomplete pass and second down was a pass from Tom Brady to Julian Edelman. Devonta Freeman had a 37-yard run on the Falcons first play. Atlanta also had to punt to end their first drive.

Answer: Atlanta

On his first carry in the second quarter, LeGarrette Blunt had the ball stripped from him by rookie linebacker Deion Jones. It was the first fumble since week two of the regular season for Blunt.
5. Who scored the first points of the game?

Answer: Devonta Freeman, Falcons

With 12:15 remaining in the second quarter, the Falcons capitalized on the Patriots turnover when Devonta Freeman ran in from 5 yards out. After the kick they were up 7-0. Austin Hooper caught a 19-yard touchdown catch with 8:48 to play in the half. The conversion kick made it 14-0 Atlanta.
6. Which Atlanta defensive player returned an interception for a first half touchdown?

Answer: Robert Alford

7. Who scored the first points of the second half?

Answer: Tevin Coleman, Falcons

James White scored the touchdown that brought them within two, while Amendola scored the tying conversion.

10. Who won the game MVP award?

Answer: Tom Brady

Matt Ryan likely would have won it, had it not been for the huge comeback by the Patriots in the fourth quarter and overtime to win. Brady ended up setting the record for most (466) passing yards in a single Super Bowl, and in doing so won his fifth Lombardi Trophy, and the fourth time he was named MVP of the game.
