1. Super Bowl XLV pitted the NFC Champion Packers against the AFC Champion Steelers. Between the two teams, which team had made the most Super Bowl appearances?

Answer: Steelers (8)

Although the Packers took control of the Super Bowls by appearing in Super Bowl I and II, Green Bay made their fifth appearance in 2011. The Steelers appeared in number eight in 2011. Those eight appearances included the seasons of 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1995, 2005, 2008, and 2010. Prior to this game, Pittsburgh was 6-1 while Green Bay was 3-1.

Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas, was the site of Super Bowl XLV. The newly built stadium was the dream of Cowboy owner Jerry Jones, and he was like a proud parent to let the world see his new stadium. Although an indoor venue, the NFL was not happy with snow storms in the Dallas area a week before the game, which took away from some hoopla from the pre-game media hype. Sun Life Stadium in Miami hosted Super Bowl XLIV in 2010.

The U of P Stadium hosted XLII in 2008, and Reliant opened its doors to Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.

After Christina Aguilera started the Super Bowl off with her own rendition of the National Anthem, and although messed up the lyrics, the Packers kicked off to the Steelers. After some possession changes, the Packers scored in the first quarter on a pass play from Aaron Rodgers to Jordy Nelson down the right sideline, beating Steelers defensive back, William Gay.

After the Packers' first score in the first quarter, they kicked off to the Steelers. Collins, a sixth season Packers defensive back, intercepted a Ben Roethlisberger pass from the Steelers' own six-yard line, then returned it for 37 yards for another Packers touchdown.

At that point it was 14-0 Packers. The Steelers' first score was a 33-yard field goal in the second quarter with 12:10 to go in the first half by kicker Shaun Suisham.

The Packers' Greg Jennings took in a 21-yard touchdown from Aaron Rodgers with 2:24 left in the first half, then score was 21-3 in favor of Green Bay. With only 39 seconds left in the half, Hines Ward pulled down a pass from Ben Roethlisberger to make the score 21-10. Both teams went into the locker rooms while the halftime festivities took place.

Although the NFL continued to receive complaints about theatrical type halftime shows for more than 10 years, the league still went with another one, with the Black Eyed Peas headlining the festivities.

Nelson had nine catches for 140 yards in the game. He was in his third season with the Packers, and was converted to more of a wide receiver after playing on special teams. Nelson caught the big game's first score on a touchdown pass in the first quarter for the Packers.

In the fourth quarter, the Steelers obtained another touchdown from the air to Mike Wallace from QB Ben Roethlisberger, then attempted a two-point conversion which was successful. At that point, the game showed the Packers ahead 28-25. The nail in the coffin for the Steelers was a 31-yard pass completion with five minutes to go in the game to Greg Jennings on a third and 10 for the Packers, then a minute a later, a 20-yard pass completion to James Jones. With 2:07 left in the game, Mason Crosby kicked a 23-yard field goal to put it in the books, 31-25.

The Packers came in as the sixth-seed in the playoffs, and won it all. The Packers were the second youngest team in the NFL in the 2010 season, and won their fourth Super Bowl Championship in XLV.

Mike McCarthy was in his fifth season as a head coach in the NFL and for the Packers. Even growing up in Pittsburgh as a young boy and rooting for the Steelers, he led the Packers team to a 10-6 record in the season. He then had the team step on the Eagles in the wildcard game, the Falcons in the divisional game, the Bears in the Conference Championship game, then the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV, 31-25.

It was the 13th NFL Championship for the Green Bay Packers.
10. Who won the Super Bowl XLV Most Valuable Player Award?

Answer: Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers, the quarterback of the Packers, won the award and a new Chevrolet Corvette for his three touchdown passes in the game. While the Vince Lombardi Trophy is presented to the winning team of a Super Bowl, the MVP Award is named the Pete Rozelle Trophy. Rozelle was a former NFL Commissioner who retired in 1989.

The first player to receive his named award was running back Ottis Anderson of the Giants in Super Bowl XXV in a win over the Bills. Aaron Rodgers was the second Green Bay quarterback behind Bart Starr to receive the MVP Award.
