Answer: Mark Skaife / Jim Richards

Skaife/Richards were declared the winners even though their car had been involved in a major accident on the lap the race was red flagged, rendering their car almost un-drivable. The officials took the result on the last completed lap.

Andrew Hilditch picked up a throw from mid-on and passed it the Pakistan's Safraz Narwaz who appealed and was awarded the dismissal.

Answer: Steven Bradbury

All four of Bradbury's competitors in the Men's short track 1000 metres Speed Skating final (Apolo Ohno, Ahn Hyun-Soo, Li Jiajun and Mathieu Turcotte) crashed out at the final corner. Bradbury was just left to skate over the line to take the Gold Medal.

After the 1981 Grand Final win over Newtown, Parramatta supporters went about destroying Cumberland Oval. The grandstand and scoreboard were burnt down and other parts of the ground wrecked and looted.

During the opening rounds of racing against Team New Zealand the Australian boat "OneAustralia" split in half and sank.

Answer: 112.72 seconds

The event was won by Pieter van den Hoogenband who broke the World Record with a time of 47.84 seconds. Moussambani splashed in, taking almost double that time for his 112.72 seconds (slower than the 200m world record of 1m 44.06s held by Ian Thorpe).
