1.10 "Burned" Trivia Quiz

At the beginning of the episode, Jake was going up, to his apartment, and Sandy came up to meet him and say hello. When Jake opened the door, to his apartment, everyone in the apartment complex yelled, "surprised!", and there was a happy birthday sign for Jake. For the party, the tenants all ordered pizza but the party became somber when Jake's estranged mother showed up.

At the party, Jake asked those who attended how they knew it was his birthday and Rhonda said that she took a peek, at Jake's wallet, and saw his birthday on his driver's license. This was when Rhonda said you could learn a lot about someone by looking at their driver's license. Sandy informed Jake that, when they saw his wallet, things could have been worse, like they could have taken his money.

Morris, born on March 14th, 1943 in Durham, North Carolina guest starred on this episode of "Melrose Place" as Stella Rivers, Jake's mom. This was the only appearance she made on the series. Morris also guest starred on the TV series', "A Different World", "Major Dad", and "Murder, She Wrote." She played characters in the movies, "Aria", "A Sinful Life", and "Me and the Kid."

Billy was driving a taxi, one night, and he dropped a woman off in South Central. A couple of men noticed him and they got into their car to sit down but they did not drive off. Billy got back into his taxi and drove away and, when he did, the men followed him. Billy stopped his car and the other car was right behind him and, right after Billy stopped the taxi, the men got out and carried weapons.

They attacked Billy and left him all bruised up.

After Billy was attacked, he phoned Allison to come get him, at the police station. Allison could not believe what she was hearing but she informed Billy she would be down to get him as soon as possible. When she hung up the phone, she told everyone what happened, to Billy, and that he was also robbed. After the attack, Rhonda got closer to Billy.

After Billy got back, to the apartment complex, his friends asked him if he was alright and he said he was fine. Billy spoke about what happened and he said his attackers were black and referred to them as "those people." Rhonda, a black woman, took offense since he seemed to stereotype all black people as criminals. Billy assured Rhonda he was not being racist.

Midway through the episode, Jane was talking, to Michael, and she informed him that she had a nightmare, the previous night, about someone breaking in to their apartment. She said, in her nightmare, Michael was not there, when the break in occurred, and Michael assumed she thought about Billy. Jane said she worried, about Billy, and his attack, along with her hormones, caused her to have that kind of nightmare.

Jane finally broke the news, to Michael, that she was pregnant and he was thrilled to be having a baby with her. They decided to attend a Lamaze class, in this episode, and they found it boring. Unfortunately, tragedy struck, for Jane and Michael, when Jane miscarried hers and Michael's child. Shortly after this, Jane and Michael decided to end their marriage when he cheated on her.

Jake woke up and was shocked to see his mom, in the kitchen, making an omelet for herself. He told her he never knew she had a fascination, in cooking, and he assumed that she was trying to hide something. She insisted she had no agenda and nothing hidden. Jake gave her some hints, to make the omelet, and his mom admitted she was not much of a cook.

Jake's mom decided to relax, in the sun, so she sat on a pool chair and Sandy was there as well. She asked Sandy if she could sit down and Sandy told her to go ahead. Sandy asked her how long she would be staying and Jake's mom replied she planned to settle in Los Angeles permanently.

She claimed to be a waitress and Sandy replied that she, too, was a waitress while finding gigs as an actress.
