Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. With only a short time available for shore leave, a lottery is conducted to allow half the crew to 'earn' leave time. As luck would have it, EVERY senior officer gets selected.

Answer: False

Sub-Commander T'Pol ends up being the only senior officer who does not get time off in the lottery. All of the others descend to the planet's surface, with the exception of Dr. Phlox, who elects to use his two days and two nights to hibernate.

Sub-Commander T'Pol was played by Jolene Blalock, while Dr. Phlox was portrayed by John Billingsley.
2. Ensign Mayweather plans to do some rock climbing, having heard of a challenging location where the cliff-face changes pitch as you climb. What is it called?

Answer: Galartha

What Travis doesn't realize as he makes his plans is that not only does the pitch of the cliff-face change, so do the handholds. Travis ends up falling and breaking his leg during his adventure vacation.

Anthony Montgomery played the role of Ensign Travis Mayweather.
3. Lieutenant Reed and Commander Tucker intend to scope out Risa's night life, with the hopes of finding some female companionship. How do they refer to it?

Answer: Broadening their cultural horizons

The two friends exhibit no shame in their intentions, even though Hoshi responds to their attitudes with, "Is that all you two think about?"

Trip responds with, "Well, how we choose to relax is our own business."

When Malcolm and Trip get to a nightclub, they scan the crowd and comment on the possibilities, although extra eyes and ambiguous genders keep them looking for something else.

Lieutenant Malcolm Reed was played by Dominic Keating, while Connor Trinneer portrayed Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker III, and Linda Park played the part of Ensign Hoshi Sato.
4. Ensign Sato hopes to be more productive with her time by learning a new language while on Risa. How many languages does she say that she already spoke before joining the Enterprise crew?

Answer: 38

Hoshi feels that her time on Enterprise, while exciting with all the new languages she has encountered, doesn't quite give her the proper challenge because of the Universal Translator. She learned 38 languages before leaving Earth, but now, "all I do is push a button and the computer does all the work."
5. Captain Archer wants to relax in a villa overlooking the ocean. Who does he bring with him as a companion?

Answer: Porthos (his dog)

Porthos accompanies Archer to his villa, where he finds that T'Pol has packed some reading material for him, to help him relax. He is amused to see that it is "The Teachings of Surak".

Not long after his arrival, Archer spies a woman in a neighbouring villa, also with a small dog.

Porthos was played by Prada, while Scott Bakula portrayed Captain Jonathan Archer.
6. Travis injures himself while rock climbing, and returns to the Enterprise after a brief visit to the Risian Central Hospital. What complication must Dr. Phlox deal with?

Answer: An allergic reaction to pain medication

Travis calls up to the Enterprise from the Central Hospital, wanting to be treated by his own doctor, rather than to be subject to alien doctors who have never seen humans before.

Crewman Cutler, standing in for the hibernating Dr. Phlox, attempts to treat Travis, but he begins having difficulty breathing. They revive Phlox, and he is able to find the cause of the problem - an allergic reaction to benzethonium chloride - even though he is mostly delirious from being awoken mid-hibernation.

Crewman Elizabeth Cutler was played by Kellie Waymire.
7. Trip and Malcolm find some likely companionship - two beautiful ladies who approach them in a nightclub. What secluded location do the ladies suggest that they go to visit?

Answer: The subterranean gardens

When the ladies lead the two officers to a basement storage area, Trip and Malcolm realize that they've been hoodwinked. The ladies demand that they turn over their valuables, then transform into two male aliens and overpower the two officers. When the aliens realize that Trip and Malcolm have nothing of value, they stun them and steal their clothes, leaving them tied up.

The two friends manage to free themselves a full day later by breaking a bottle and using glass shards to cut through their bonds.
8. Hoshi meets an alien whose native language she is unable to learn, although he learns English easily enough. When Hoshi names a fruit that is similar to a Kiwi, Ravis says that it sounds like the word kee'hwi, which means what?

Answer: Kiss

Ironically, Hoshi is the one to fall into a relationship when she had no intention of doing so, while Trip and Malcolm were stymied in their ambitions. Hoshi and Ravis enjoy their day together (she teaches him English in one day) before getting more intimate with a visit to a steam pool and an overnight stay.

Rivas was played by Rudolf Martin.
9. The captain meets one of the other guests in his villa complex, a lovely woman by the name of Keyla. When she starts acting suspiciously by asking too many questions, Archer scans her, finding out that she is actually a disguised alien of what species?

Answer: Tandaran

Keyla is coy at the beginning, but warms up to Archer as the episode progresses. When she comes to visit his villa on his second evening, she tells a story about losing her family to a Suliban attack. She goes on to begin interrogating Jonathan about his knowledge of the Suliban, specifically trying to glean their location and their plans

Suspicious, Archer surreptitiously scans Keyla, determining that she is Tandaran - the same species that had been holding many Suliban in detention centers. He is unable to do anything with the revelation, however, as Keyla scratches his hand and knocks him out with some sort of toxin.

Dey Young played the part of Keyla.
10. "Two Days and Two Nights" was directed by someone whose "Star Trek" character has made the most appearances of any other, acting in 272 episodes and four movies. Who is he?

Answer: Michael Dorn

Michael Dorn played Worf, the Klingon raised by humans who chose a career in Starfleet. Worf made his first appearance in the premiere of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", and appearing in all but four episodes, before moving on to "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" for the last four seasons of that series (appearing in all but eight episodes). Worf also appeared in each of the "TNG" movies.

Michael Dorn also played the role of Colonel Worf in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" (1991). While it was never expressly revealed onscreen, Colonel Worf was the grandfather and namesake of the Worf we all know and love (source: Memory Alpha Wiki).

Michael Dorn directed three episodes of "DS9" before taking the helm of "Two Days and Two Nights".
