Desmond was seen sleeping in the hatch but he immediately woke up once he heard the alarm and he started calling for someone named Kelvin. The alarm was going off since the seconds to the hatch timer were ticking down so Desmond entered the numbers and reset it. Once he reset it, he heard someone singing.

Brown, born on January 5th, 1959 in Urbana, Ohio guest starred as Kelvin on this episode of "Lost." He was seen in the second hour when Desmond called for Kelvin as the alarm in the hatch went off. There was a scene near the beginning of the second hour where Locke and Desmond were in the hatch and Desmond had his ear near a wall, listening in on action elsewhere.
