Question 3 of 10
3. Lucy's suggestion - at the family dinner table - that she would like to have her mother invited to her birthday party was NOT well received, even when Lucy insisted that her mother was forced to leave Southfork by J.R. (rather than running away). Lucy had had enough. Carrying only a single bag and her guitar, how did Lucy leave Southfork? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Taking a quick break from her escape, Lucy stopped at a roadside diner (or, truck stop) for a bit of breakfast. The Mercedes with the license plate EWING 3 drew the attention of other diners, particularly two patrolmen and one very shady acting driver of a van. Lucy decided it was time to move on. How much money did she leave on the table to cover her $.79 bill so she could make a quick exit? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. It was an early television appearance for the actor who played the part of the van's driver, Willie Guest. He went on to have much success as a TV actor. In later years, we saw him as B.J. McKay on two different TV shows, as Joey Harris on "My Two Dads" (1987) and as Dr. Dan Hathaway on "Melrose Place" (1992). Who was this actor? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. With Lucy still on the run, her family (back at Southfork) learned she abandoned J.R.'s car near Waco. Val's letter to Lucy was left in the car, thus the Ewings decided Lucy was most likely on her way to San Antonio to see Valene. Who volunteered to go to San Antonio to bring Lucy back to Southfork? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. In San Antonio things began to unravel for Lucy. Valene was no longer at the address from where her letter had been mailed. Lucy also learned Val had quit her job after telling her (former) boss she was going on to Austin. Then Willie robbed the restaurant's cash register as Lucy talked with the owner about Val. Lucy suggested to Willie that the two of them "split up". What did he say? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. At Southfork, minus the guest of honor, Lucy's birthday party happened as planned - by the other members of her family. J.R. and Jock used the setting to capitalize on an opportunity to bring two politicos together and in an effort to convince them both to "vote pro-Ewing". Sue Ellen quizzed one congressman - at length - about one person's political ambitions. Who was of so much interest to Sue Ellen? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. In Austin, Willie forced Lucy to enter a talent contest at a bar there. He was certain with her looks and her guitar that she would win the $100 prize money. Very reluctantly, Lucy participated. What was the country music standard song Lucy chose for her performance? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Willie dragged Lucy out the back door of the bar hoping to make a quick getaway but he was immediately stopped by a number of lawmen. Bobby talked Willie into "trading" him (Bobby) for Lucy as hostage. Willie agreed. How was Willie finally apprehended? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To celebrate Lucy's upcoming birthday, the Ewing family decided to host a party in her honor. As Lucy sat, poolside, strumming her guitar, Miss Ellie and Sue Ellen were nearby, busy, making plans for the party. When Sue Ellen suggested she wanted to contact a local band, what band ("from Austin") did Lucy say she would prefer to have for the party?

Answer: The Coffins

Lucy called Sue Ellen's choice of bands an "old fogey" and said she would really rather have a "rock band" - like The Coffins. Miss Ellie thought it to be "a horrible name for a band", thus, the tone was set for Lucy's party. Miss Ellie was in charge of the guest list. Sue Ellen planned the entertainment. Pamela brought dress possibilities home to Lucy from her store.

The clincher for Lucy was when she overheard Jock and J.R. plans to use her party to parlay their latest political aspirations. All plans seemed to ignore HER or what she may want and it quickly became more than Lucy could abide.
2. Lucy received communication from her mother, Valene, that boosted her mood immediately. How was Val's message to Lucy delivered/received?

Answer: Lucy received a letter (at the ranch) from her mother

Lucy did receive a letter from her mother. Close-up shot shows the address as: Ms. Lucy Ewing, Southfork Ranch, Braddock, TX. Guess that was enough info for the USPO to deliver! Ray was the only person with whom Lucy initially shared the news of Val's contact. Ray cautioned Lucy to tread softly around the other family members with any news from Valene. Would she heed the warning? We know her better than that.

Answer: She "stole" J.R.'s car

With the cover of darkness, Lucy took J.R.'s Mercedes and drove away from Southfork. Of course, J.R. noticed very early the next morning that his car was "gone"; he was also missing his "gasoline credit card". With Lucy nowhere to be found, the search for her was commenced.

While the other family members were concerned, J.R.'s comment was, "She has run off to see that tramp mother of hers".

Answer: $20

Even though Lucy had made some flirtatious eye contact with the driver of the van, the attention her uncle's car drew from the two patrolmen scared her enough to leave the $20 bill on the table and go. With a hidden gun in his pants, the driver of the van decided on an easier (than robbery) way to get some money.

He lifted the check and the $20, paid the waitress and kept the change. He also, quickly, followed Lucy as she left the diner.

Answer: Greg Evigan

The 25-year old Greg Evigan was a relative new comer to television when he appeared as Willie Guest for this episode of "Dallas". Until then his acting had been more stage - community theater with a few national tours - than TV. His television career quickly developed and through his continuous work, he could boast of a long, long list of appearances in many very popular TV shows well into the 21st century.

Answer: Bobby

When J.R. learned Lucy and Val were in contact, of course he was livid. His solution was - typical for him - to send a couple of boys to "pick her (Lucy) up and explain the facts of life to her on the way home. ... and, Valene, too". Bobby would have no part of it.

He told his mother and Pam that he would go and bring Lucy home. Sue Ellen was too busy with party planning to concern herself with a missing guest of honor. Miss Ellie did not want anyone to tell Jock any more that absolutely necessary.

Answer: "No way, you're my girl from now on".

Willie had plans for him and Lucy to stay together. He still had no idea who she really was - a Ewing, that is. He thought she had stolen a car and credit car - just his kind of companion. Little did Lucy know their crime spree was to continue until the next day when Willie knocked a gasoline store attendant unconscious and stole money there, too. Lucy was obviously shaken. Willie tried to soothe her with the promise of taking her straight to Austin.

Answer: Pam's brother, Cliff Barnes

Sue Ellen spent a lot of time with Congressman Oates - who was NOT a huge fan of the Ewings OR of the other politicians "in their pockets". Most of Sue Ellen's banter was regarding Cliff Barnes. Her intense interest was not unnoticed by the congressman.

This was not the first time (during the course of the series) that Sue Ellen had shown an unusual curiosity about Pam's brother, Cliff. Were seeds being sown? Most likely.
9. In Austin, Willie forced Lucy to enter a talent contest at a bar there. He was certain with her looks and her guitar that she would win the $100 prize money. Very reluctantly, Lucy participated. What was the country music standard song Lucy chose for her performance?

Answer: Silver Threads and Golden Needles

While Lucy sang, Willie's van had caught the attention of the local police and Willie robbed the bartender of the bar's cash. Bobby had asked the gasoline station attendant to call a friend of his on the Austin police department and alert him (the police officer) of Lucy's circumstance. Of course, Bobby was not too far behind Willie and Lucy.

The bar was surrounded by the Austin police - who had promised to "be careful" with Lucy.
10. Willie dragged Lucy out the back door of the bar hoping to make a quick getaway but he was immediately stopped by a number of lawmen. Bobby talked Willie into "trading" him (Bobby) for Lucy as hostage. Willie agreed. How was Willie finally apprehended?

Answer: When Bobby was close to them, Lucy scratched Willie in the face and Bobby grabbed him

As Lucy scratched, Bobby punched and Willie was grabbed by a group of policemen who had remained nearby them. Lucy was rescued and was soon on her way back to Southfork with Bobby. All would be well for the Ewing family as Bobby told Lucy there would be other opportunities to find her mother. Miss Ellie told Jock he would have another chance to "dance with his granddaughter" and J.R. congratulated Sue Ellen on being the perfect hostess for his ambitions.
