Answer: Michael O'Neill

O'Neill guest starred in this episode of "The West Wing" as Ron Butterfield, a Secret Service Agent. He played the role for a total of sixteen episodes. He has also guest starred on the TV series', "Commander in Chief", "JAG" and "Numb3rs."
2. Which actor played Agent Cleary in this episode?

Answer: Jonathan Nichols

Nichols guest starred in this episode as Agent Cleary, a member of the Secret Service. He played the part for just this one episode of "The West Wing." He has had guest starring stints on the TV shows, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "Without a Trace" and "Judging Amy."

This episode did not pick up from where season two left off but rather was told in regards to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, as this episode aired in October of 2001. The episode began with a scene which took place at the FBI field office in Burlington, Vermont as the writing at the bottom of the screen alerted us to the location. Someone there instructed an employee to do a search on someone named Yaarun Nabi. The employee commented that the name was Persian and meant "friend of the prophet."

Donna went to Josh's office and he alerted her that he was leaving for the day and she told him it was only five o'clock. Donna reminded him that he had to first speak to some students who were at The White House from the Presidential Classroom. Donna explained to him that they were high school kids who got to come visit The White House every year for four days.

The agent then informed Leo that Sharif named co-conspirators in this attempted bombing to a U.S. Attorney.

Toby started to speak with the students from the Presidential Classroom about their bothering him and it was after he got done talking that Josh introduced him as the man who crafted The White House's message to the general public. Toby then asked the students to guess as to what that message was for today so someone jokingly said it was to not bug him. Toby jokingly replied that he was correct and then a young woman told him he had a nice beard.
9. Toby stated that the Taliban was the recognized government of Afghanistan.

Toby spoke with the students about religion and its being intertwined with politics so he then used an analogy about how Islamic extremists were to Islam what the KKK was to Christianity. He then asked for someone to discuss political analogies so someone brought up the Taliban as being the government of Afghanistan. Toby corrected him by stating it was not a recognized government since they overtook the previous government of the country.

Midway through the episode, C.J. joined the Presidential Classroom and Josh mentioned how C.J. stood out from the rest of the staff since she had a bizarre affection for the intelligence community which the others did not. C.J. stated it was not bizarre but rather the right connection. C.J. spoke to the students about the importance of having spies within the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
