7.10 "Bad Santa" Trivia Quiz

In the opening scene, a man was running down the street fleeing a person who was driving after him (the driver was disguised as Santa). He was shot dead so the team investigated the murder. He was revealed to be a doctor who practiced emergency medicine.

At the crime scene, Javier identified the victim as Eric Mercer and he lived in Midtown. Just prior to his death, Eric was at a coffee shop just six blocks away. The team learned that Eric telephoned someone at his place of employment just ten minutes prior to being shot to death.

At the police station, Lanie mentioned to Javier that her parents were leaving Louisiana for a trip to Paris. She stated that they were going on vacation to Paris but had a layover in New York City and that they wanted to spend time with her and Javier before jetting off to Paris. Lanie brought up that her parents thought she and Javier were engaged so she asked Javier to pretend like they were about to get married.

Kevin did some research on the victim and saw something interesting on his cell phone. He noted that Eric Mercer had planned to take a cab ride out to a location in Queens prior to being killed. This was the same location that Eric went to on numerous occasions when he missed shifts at the hospital.

The place where Eric Mercer went to on numerous occasions was identified as Evergreen Sanitation. Kate immediately knew that this place was used as a front for organized crime. Kate and the team wondered why the doctor did work for a mafia based organization in the city.

There was further investigation done onto Dr. Eric Mercer and it was revealed that he had road salt on his jacket. The team wondered why this was the case since it had not snowed in New York City for weeks. They realized that the type of salt located on his jacket could only come from one place in the city so they went there to see what they could find.

There was a gunshot victim in this episode and it was determined that he had been killed three days prior. The victim was identified as Luca Tessaro so the team wondered who could have killed him since the killer could be behind Eric Mercer's death. It was revealed that the Carlucci family detested the Tessaro family so they figured someone from the Carlucci clan killed Luca.

Answer: Jane Scarpella

Kate contacted Castle to let him know that she found some big news surrounding Luca's death. She said they located a bracelet on Luca's corpse and there was a fingerprint on the bracelet which belonged to Jane Scarpella. It was revealed that Jane and Luca had been romantically linked.

Near the end, Kate was processing the new details that were involved in Eric's death once she heard what Jane mentioned about Luca's death. She noted how Luca and Jane were from rival mobster families, but fell in love. She referenced how this sounded similar to the plot from Shakespeare's notable play, "Romeo & Juliet". It was then revealed that Luca was alive.

Answer: Cayman Island

The team learned of an alias that the killer had used in this episode and he used this same alias to open a bank account. The account was opened in the Cayman Islands. Castle enlisted Rita's help to track where the account opened and it was done at a computer at a local public library. Rita learned the time and date when this account opened so they got security footage from that date and time to track the killer.

The footage revealed that Detective McBride initiated the Cayman account.
