The team managed to retrieve a fingerprint off the victim so they were able to identify her. Her name was Susan Watts and it was stated that she grew up in Vestal, New York. Per her background, she had committed many crimes over the years, one of which was larceny.

Javier and Kevin were unable to find anything on the victim's employment background in regards to recent employment. They did note that she was at one point with a staffing agency called NewStart Horizons, which was centered in New York City, although this was years ago. The team arrested Michael Boudreau since he drove a truck where the victim was picked up. They continued to investigate him and they pulled up his credit card activity. On it, there was a recent transaction for a purchase at Café Julius.

The team suspected that Michael Boudreau was actually Jerry Tyson, the 3XK Killer. As Boudreau's DNA sample was not at the precinct, they had trouble trying to identify Michael as Jerry. Castle realized that Jerry Tyson's biological mother, Gretchen Cutler, lived in the area. They went over to her place to see if she had anything of Jerry's which had his DNA on it.
